This game is a hidden gem. You can still do the backpack inception. I have been playing this game for over 50 hours and I have yet to find some of the more rare items but the game has been a joy to play every now and then.

Its ripped from an asset pack called Apocalypse Poly. Theres loads of clones, look up 'DeadPoly' and 'Another Try' for example.

@@coffee5862 that's just for the models/animations though right or does that include all the scripting cuz as a unity dev myself this would take a shit ton of work and the amount of time to model everything for this and have it look good enough for the public would take Aton of skill me personally I enjoy the programming part more but the graphics/models/art can make or break a game I see nothing wrong with using assets as long as your not just taking a straight up template of a game and saying its your own lol

2 minutes in it's looking like unturned. Love your work Just finished (watched on 1.5 speed) feels very unturned like and unturned is free. Love that you experiment and look for new games. Can feel that you care for your community and want to keep us entertained and engaged. I'd suggest maybe finding something with more long term depth but I know KZbin series never do well. As a person who's watched every video from back before the sub-off with cap I can say you improve with every video and I love being part of your community.

There's another game almost exactly identical to this one, in fact I thought you were playing it at first until I realized I have a different game. The other one is called "Deadpoly". It's been in early access longer than this one, so it may have been an inspiration for Surrounded.

This game looked very familiar, I think I have realised why when I looked at some of the reviews for this game. Some people are calling this an asset flip, according to some reviews almost every asset is from 'deadpoly' (is it a game or asset pack, or both?), obviously I was sceptical of this until I realised I have seen a game that looks just like this. Looked into it a little more and the Dev has admitted to using the same/similar assets as 'deadpoly', and the Dev has said that they know the people who made 'deadpoly'. Take that how you will.

Anybody can use asset packs if they buy them. They both bought the same asset pack. This is far from an "asset flip". An asset flip would be if a developer didn't "develop" anything in the game and just threw together a bunch of assets and then tried to sell their "game", which isn't the case here. Sometimes a single developer can't do ALL the modelling and coding and mapwork, etc. on their own, so they use paid assets (in this case somebody else made the models and sold them to both of these developers to use in their game, which is why you see multiple games with single developers using these models). Usually it's because the developer either doesn't have the skills to make their own models or doesn't have the time to make them. Games with premade assets are fine, as long as the game is fun and the developer doesn't deny that he uses paid assets. A lot of times the assets are just temporary placeholders.

Completely agree about the shooting range - if a game doesn't specifically have a super easy way to go into creative mode to test shit, they should absolutely have a way for us to test guns (and possibly armor, gas masks, food or pills effects, etc). And actually even if creative mode is a test option, I'd prefer devs to make a cool testing area anyway. They should *want* to show off all their cool shit, ya know?

This game is surprisingly good. While it could be considered an asset-flip, it is well thought out, engaging, and rather beautiful at times. It still needs work in certain areas but with regular updates and good communication from the devs it will only get better with time. When the game is finished I think it will be loved by many.

I've become to notice that a lot of these $15 indie games are actually amazing works of talent and have a ton of potential. Battlebit Remastered & Surroundead are both great in their own way. Surroundead I find to be very beautiful with its artstyle. All it really needs is more optimization for the midrange cards. I was pretty shocked that my RTX 3060TI was dropping from 144 to 80fps once I encountered a scavenger that was shooting at zombies.

Something you might be able to do with the backpack in a backpack, line them up next to each other in the survival backpack then organize them based on what you need like the crates in 7 days to die. One backpack for ammo/guns, another for food and drink, sellables etc. then instead of going in a backpack then in another backpack they are all in front of you and the rest of the space in the survival backpack could be for sellables maybe just a thought.

I bought this game two days ago. About combat in 1st person view. It is not bad after you get used to it. In melee you need to be careful but after learning the tricks it goes quite well. Just keep looking everywhere before stopping to do something and after that listening very carefully for zombie noises. Of course, the game has been getting better over the year so maybe combat in 1st person was way worse in those days.

DayZ melee is actually pretty good once you learn it. There are uppercuts,overhands,running power attacks. That's with fists. Melee weapons are pretty decent these days. With singe handed bladed weapons you can stealth attack zombies and one shot them. DayZ's engine is old and it's got some jank. Other than the occasional glitchy shenanigans I absolutely love DayZ. There's nothing else like it. It's so realistic, and the possibilities are nearly endless. Surroundead caught my eye because sometimes I crave a game like DayZ, but single player.

Played 160hrs of this game and it's so much fun and the weapons are balanced and fun, the building is easy and driving is fun collecting stuff. It's been updated quite a lot and getting better and better as it goes on. Food and water are easy to get and they do disappear as you eat or drink. using supresses help against zombies as they don't make too much sound. For one person to to do all this is great. You see some companies have 30 plus and it's still shit so hats off to them for making a great game here.

So glad you covered this, I’ve been following it for months and have put a lot of feedback into it’s development I was actually one of the first few to recommend a notification for airdrops coming in and it was added as a toggleable option which was even better for more choice to players. He’s adding the first version of skill trees, and bandit ai next update and before a month or two again he was churning out updates pretty frequently but the past few updates have been a big beefier than the past ones. Hope you decide to cover it again deadpoly is another good one to look into it’s a more PvP centered version of this one which is pve centered.
