This video presents the bells c#1 -e1 -f#1 -g#1 -h1 -h3 [do#3 -mi3 -fa#3 -sol#3 -si3 -si5] of St. Gallus church in Wurmlingen near Tuttlingen.
➥ After the Second World War, only the small "weather bell" [ VI ] remained in St Gallus. It was cast by an unnamed bell founder in neighbouring Tuttlingen and probably did not originally hang in St. Gallus.
The replacement for the war losses was cast in 1950, but the three new bells were not satisfactory.
It was therefore decided to replace the bells at the beginning of the 1960s. The Bachert bell foundry in Heilbronn received the order for five new bells in a completely new bell system. The new main bells [1+2+3+4+5] for St Gallus were manufactured in 1962. Although the weather bell [11:45] remained in the tower, it was not integrated into the ringing system and can still only be rung by hand today.
The new instruments are particularly sonorous, as can be expected from the year they were cast. Supported by the large bell and the impressive tower acoustics, a remarkable carpet of sound unfolds here.
