Yeah, good points! This isn’t an “Arcade” or Easy version of the Board Game. This is full on Gloomhaven. It’s a slow paced, turn based game. Kind of a puzzler in that you have to try to get your best card picks together each turn. It is a good game, but certainly not for everyone. Nothing wrong with that, either. Thanks for the video.

I mever heard of Gloomhaven before, especially that there was a board game of it. One of my closest online friends told me about the game on xbox and me and him both got it and played together. Some of the most fun i ever had since me and him both love DnD and it gave us that DnD feel of it

The game is not that difficult to understand, the rules are super easy. The scenarios are brutal at first, but as your character progress, they will wipe any scenario no problem. For me, I love gloomhaven. I'd love to have people to play

@@IamDarthMuller Try lowering the difficulty until you get the grasp of it. Believe me, it gets really fun as soon your characters start to develop. Also, play the alternate game mode, not the campaign. Starting missions are easier there

I spent a lot of hours playing the actual board game, and have been wishing for a digital version on consoles, and finally bought it on xbox. I just simply love gloomhaven. For someone not used to the complexity of heavy board games, this game might be frustrating, but personally imo investing a few hours in going through the rule book, are totally worth it considering the game play depth you get out of this rpg. Honestly once you learn the main rules, the details you can always refer using a cheat sheet. There are pdf cheat sheets that are 2 pages long available for free download online. Another thing is that yes this game is hard initially, but even failing the scenarios aren't a waste as you get to keep the xp and gold. You could keep trying (with different strategies each time), and eventually you'll succeed, and that gratification is where the game shines. It's a bit similar to souls games in that regard.

It does require a steep learning curve, and if you don't mind spending a few initial hours learning the rules and a couple of hours playing tutorial levels, then it is 100% worth. I have spent 50 plus hours on the xbox version and the replayability seems infinite , and clearing a scenario can take a couple of hours, but once you succeed the satisfaction is immense. I do die like 50% of the times, but even the loss teaches you to change your strategy and it's a lot of fun. In short if you have a lot of time to spend and the patience in the initial hours to learn the rules and polish your strategies, the returns on this game will be amazing.

Thank you for your review - one question about this game. We own the board game and absolutely love it, one unique trait for this game is as you go along the campaign the Gloomhaven world changes. On the board game version, this is done by adding permanent changes to the world map as certain events happen as well as locations as they are discovered, additionally as certain events happen, since they can only happen one time, the card for that event is to be destroyed and thrown away permanently changing your copy of the game. So in the board game you can play 1-4 players, at any given time, however getting multiple instances of the game going with different groups would be difficult as the game contents are physically being changed as one group progresses. My question is for the Xbox version, how is this function handled in the game? Is there an ability to play it with multiple instances of the game, can one instance be deleted to allow the players (or player) to restart, or does any one change affect the game forever as it does in the ruleset for the board game?

There are different save files for every guild you create so (best I can tell without playing too much) whatever happens is isolated to that save and does not affect others. That's a really interesting concept I didn't think about with the physical version. Benefit of the digital world I suppose.

Does the online do matchmaking or do you have to use a code like you do on pc? I think a matchmaking option would be pretty decent for jump in games

I agree and yes it seems to use the same invite code system here on the Xbox version.

Bought the game on PS4 and the graphics a nowhere near this... They are pretty bad imo i'm a bit disappointed :(

In my first boss encounter ( the one that is red and have tentacles ) the game just closes after the first turn has been played. Waiting for a fix hopefully
