Ok, so when I was 3, I took my brother's safety scissors and mangled my hair. The only thing they could do was give me a boy's haircut and move on with life. When I was about 5, I asked my brother "Who is that little boy in the picture with you?" and my 12 year old brother freaked out and said he couldn't tell me. So pestered and pestered. and he finally "gave in" and told me it was "our brother, Johnny." Johnny was 2 years older than me, but he kept leaving his wet towels on the bathroom floor and so mom got so mad and flushed him down the toilet. That night, mom yelled at me to come upstairs and as soon as I got there, she flushed the toilet. I bolted into my room and hide under my bed crying that I didn't want to be flushed like Johnny and my mom was Whut? My brother was in SO much trouble. Then when I was about 7, an older cousin had fraternal twin boys. One boy was a spitting image of my brother as a baby and the whole family gushed about it. The other twin grew up feeling left out. Then when he was 6, he came up to me and said "Jacki, who is this little boy with Bobby? He looks JUST LIKE ME!" (which was totally true). I told him, "That's actually me with a boy's haircut, kiddo." "I LOOK LIKE YOU?!?! YAAAAY!" it was sweet.

Gloria was calling Claire "Diablo/Devil", because Claire pushed her to confess something out loud and that caused her problems with Manny. I'm not from the US, but, I never said Diablo in a similar context, nor I never heard anyone doing that, some could say "diablos", which is the equivalent of "damn it" or alternatively "demonios" (literally means "demons", influences of the Christianity/Catholicism). I think you're referring to that, but, that's not the same Gloria did. She wasn't cursing her luck at that moment, like when someone says "diablos". Don't know exactly how things were before, but, if anyone would call devil to someone else, it'd usually be old ladies, that followed the Catholicism or they were raised in a house or society like that (well, usually most of Latin America), they would say that. Take into account, Sofia Vergara does things like that for the comedy, as well. If it's not a confusion from you part, I guess it's something people does in the US, that'd be a result of the cross of languages and people that used old fashioned expressions or slang that were taken as casual and common Spanish in the US.
