yea its pretty impressive that fabio, being a pure thai boxer, was able to best mosab who is a straight kickboxer. pinca did fantastic honestly considering the higher output and differing pace of kickboxing compared to thai boxing

Pinca is hardcore. It takes a little time to switch rules. He got thrown in the deep end in Glory, so it wasn't that strange that he lost a pair of fights before this showcase.

Joe's commentary is consistently wrong. The first fight wasn't close at all - Pinca dominated it from bell to bell. Maybe he's just stubbornly refusing to acknowledge MT scoring.

saying that joe's commentary is consistently wrong is awfully inaccurate. especially considering that he comes from a mt background and, if anything, is biased towards it. I think that just because he doesn't uphold the stupid conviction that muay thai is always the best martial art in combat sports he gets a lot of senseless hate.

I'm aware of Valtellini's MT record: it's basically non-existent. He's a Glory kickboxer, period. And there is nothing wrong with that. What I don't like is when he whines about how Muay Thai is scored or applies his kickboxing scoring to a Muay Thai bout, which is quite obviously what he was doing when watching the first Amrani/Pinca contest at Thai Fight. Actually, the guy just seems like an all-around whiner. Did you see his appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience? Why does a guy like Valtellini feel compelled to talk shit about Stephen Thompson? "Why haven't we fought?" ...because Thompson is a karateka/american-style kickboxer who has fought under those rules until he went the MMA route. Also Joe: you are 12-2 - that might be another reason why.

it seems to me that we are talking about a completely different person. I find joe very well spoken and humble, and he constantly brings up valid point about fighting sports. and he didn't talk shit about thompson, he was simply stating that he never heard of him, despite his impressive record, he was talking about the confusion in the fighting world regarding world titles and stuff. his mt record is nonexistant because he went immediately on to try and fight glory, and he did an amazing job there. A guy with 10 fights in glory taking on the top of his division is an incredible feat per se, winning is much more impressive than that. about the muay thai scoring i don't feel like he's whining, he's simply stating that glory officials should make clearer what kind of hits score and such. if you saw the glory fights between sittichai and roosmalen you have an idea of what i'm talking about. Personally i feel that sittichai got robbed the first time, and rosmaleen got robbed the second one, and joe pointed out that it wasn't clear who won either way, because of middle kicks to the arms ruling? do they score? do they not? I repeat, it feels to me like we are talking about a completely different guy.

I'm not basing my opinion on a single quote. I've heard some stuff about the attitude towards MT and even boxing coming from Ultimate Martial Arts and I think it's just sour grapes nonsense. But whatever.. I don't want to rail against the guy any more than I already have. If you don't see what is wrong with his comments on the JRE, then let's just say that you are entitled to your opinion. Maybe you are a family member or a gym mate. Who knows.

i am not a familiar or a gym mate, be assured. I'm just a random dude who happens to agree with much of what he says and doesn't see the flaws that you mentioned. i have, to be frank, no idea what ultimate martial arts is. What i saw is that many muay thai fans seem to struggle to understand that muay thai, as it is, is not competitive in mma or glory type of events. Muay thai is one of the best striking disciplines out there, but it needs to incorporate elements from kick boxing and boxe to be useful outside of muay thai fights. look at sittichai, he's clearly thai, but his stance and boxing are very far from traditional thai style. However, everyone is entitled to his opinion as you said, and i'll gladly end this conversation here, which has been very civil thank you. best of luck with everything, cheers
