Even Jesus' disciples, apostles were very poor, were in rags, were brutally treated, were killed in terrible manners. God doesn't call us to a fun, comfortable and rich life. On the contrary, Jesus said, "If you want to be my disciples, deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me. For whoever saves their life will lose it, but whoever loses their lives for me and for the sake of the gospel will save it." (Matthew 16:24 onwards). It's NOT SAYING BEING RICH IS SIN, but not trusting in riches (1 Timothy 6:17, Proverbs 11:28) and giving oneself wholly to God, money, possessions, family, and even one's life to God. Apostles, disciples didn't really have a house. I'm not saying people should sell their houses, but even submitted everything wholly to God, even one's own life. You cannot serve 2 masters means your heart must always belong to one master; either God Jesus or something or someone else. Choose.
