It's partly why I contacted the ramblers. I thought they would have been up in arms and rallying their members. I was very disappointed that the local high peak group never responded 🤷 I tried! Perhaps my viewers can try, maybe they will have more success than I did

All this because certain individuals chose to overlook, or turn a blind eye, take a bung, etc., at the planning stage years ago. Solitors or legal teams are normally involved as well and should have made inquirys or searches for such a path. I smell corruption. I know who'll pay for this if any money is involved..... Us, the taxpayer as usual. Great work Ace. Thanks for the update.

Hello, I used to live in the house next to the site, I used that path everyday going to school going to the shops for my mum and that site was our playground, it was called Lee Street in the 60s, how dare glossop caravans steal our land and our freedom to roam, I will be visiting my old stomping ground soon and I will open the gates and walk my path if anyone tries to stop me they will be very sorry nothing or no one can refuse access to the public path it is called Lee Street, which was demolished in the 60s I was born in woolley Bridge, I will be contacting glossop caravans and Derbyshire County Council they have both committed criminal acts and will be held accountable.

Brilliant work Ace and all credit to you. It's typical that no official body cares. I'd get onto a County Councillor and the local MP. You've even suggested a nice solution. It's a shitshow from the officials but typical waste of public money on idiots that simply don't care. Keep up the good work.

Well done on all your efforts on this one Ace. Very interesting. Unfortunately, my experience on several different matters has shown communications within and across councils leaves a lot to be desired. Initial enquiries are often met with either pushback or a “that’s not our responsibility” attitude

Excellent work on the follow up and research with various organizations. 🏆Viewers assisting Ace in requesting documents and inquiries!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ On the 2008 street view, it appeared Travis Perkins had obliterated their portion by that time as no signage was evident at the street or gate. Also after crossing the cycling route, the housing estate portion of FP81 route was not revised when then the housing estate was constructed but new path to the cycle route was constructed. Appears in years past Council and Travis Perkins were negligent in maintaining the public footpath access. In comparison, know of several dedicated footpaths through active quarry and aggregate sites where fencing and gates are provided to maintain public footpath access. So maintaining paths crossing a business yard is doable. Great education on footpaths and policies Ace!!! ⭐⭐⭐

The bollards are the same colour as the original fencing so we’re clearly part of the original installation. The gates however, are new and a different colour, so this leads me to suspect Travis Perkins knew that path existed which is why there were bollards there to allow members of the public to walk through. The newly installed gates now block the right of way.

I go past this upto 4 times a day and the gates moved towards the main road when TP moved out . The Google street view pictures are available back until may 2009 show the yellow fence (but I can’t really see a way past) maybe Google earth has older pictures so I can see what year the footpath was blocked

It's the sheer incompetence of councils not to check after planning is given through to completion, they will always pass the buck, kick the can down the road or blame someone else. Nothing unusual when working with public servants. it's an ingrained culture as with typically the work-from-home strategy employed by public servants.

The old Travis perkins site was owned by and called 'Midco' previously. The footpath was open then and regularly used by myself and the community, I moved on the housing estate where you mention the path cutting through the houses in 1991 which joins on to the trail that is now not linked to the path. I can 100% assure you that the path was still open at around 2001 and that the path blockage was done initially by travis perkins, I'm sure they sold some land to glossop caravans to build the service centre there.

Surprising the council think they can't do anything with the PRoW being occupied. They are quick to issue enforcement notices for minor planning issues where a house is a few inches off it's location or too high. But a public footpath they seem to think they can't do anything. I'm sure the council can issue enforcement notices to the landowner.

Ask him if he knows of anyone who has a cunning plan ! So basically the council can't take any action as part of the action would be against themselves for granting previous planning permissions that were not on land owned fully by the applicants. It's in the interest of everyone except the general public , of which there seems to be only one complainant, to let the present situation continue without intervention

So on my travels from Fleetwood to Selby, i got as far as Travis Perkins in Glossop only for my adventure to come to a dead end. Alas, i turned back and spent my hard earned elsewhere.

It’s not good when footpaths are blocked by stealth or any other means. It does seem in this case however that the footpath was blocked before Glossop caravans were on the site as they’ve only been there thirty five years so surely the previous owners of the site are in most part responsible for the loss and any cost associated to reinstate the detoured footpath . Whatever the outcome I found your videos on the subject very informative

I just watched your earlier video on this matter and subscribed to your channel. I went to the main YT menu and up popped this update! Your proposed reroute makes sense and I wish you success in achieving a good result. But all this larceny by stealth and council indifference to following through with such matters is shocking. Having personally emailed the Derbyshire County Council PROW officer, I was not impressed by his generic answers and one must question what exactly is the tax payer getting out of him and his couldn't give a fk/when someone is available/never in a bunch of Sundays department he's supposedly "working" in. It's as if we're all getting in the way of HIS cushty week. We've all raised the fact it's a breach of the Law and it's for Derbyshire County Council to act upon it, and NOT for them to throw it back. Very naughty of them. Deserves knocking up a division and letting the Chief Planning Officer know what a p.poor job we've all received from his PROW guy 😘 Plus there'll be a councillor too for this district and officers all jump for them! Very good update , with 1.100 views on this update , if all sent a letter of complaint about this foot path being taken would this not help push for some action by the council . Also as it clearly can be seen that the caravan company has taken over this land it should be down to them to reinstate the public footpath 🤔

Surely, when planning permission was granted for the business to be built, the boundary lines would have been drawn and agreed, so any public footpath/right of way would be shown on those drawings/documents, so the developers would (or should have) adhere to those drawings/documents, so by looking into the land registry documents it would show who is to blame for building on a public right of way?

You may want to search for the following delegated decision report that shows permission was applied for and approved to MOVE the path and extend the yard (Looks like they forgot to relocate it): "HPK/0002/9468 - Extension of existing open storage by construction of fenced yard and relocation of Footpath 81 - Approved 06/12/1990 "

In my experience this needs a cooperative approach between every organisation involved in some way, including the two companies, the local authorities, Ramblers Association and local community. This is the best way to achieve some joint ownership of the problem and to gain satisfactory funding for positive action. However, this approach does need someone or some body to take the initiative to lead the partnership. This requires motivation, time and skills. Maybe you could take the next step to identify and motivate that body even if you can’t take on the longer term management of the process. Maybe DCC should be earmarked to lead this as it is the statutory Highway Authority?

Well what a kerfuffle between councils. Amazing how a blind or blinkered (nudge nudge say no more) look at permissions whilst applying for building across public right of way isn’t it? But woah betide you build an extension on your house 20 cm too far. Another long winded game of pass the book entails by the looks of it. Too many public pathways are lost like this it’s an outrage! Nope, the ROW exists and you are free to abate any obstruction on said path. You are also free to cross any adjacent land to get around any obstruction. My ROW contact at my county council carried a cordless angle grinder as part of their trade. Surprised that DCC do not replicate this.
