Making a welcome return to the event calendar for the first time since 2019, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway were finally able to hold their Somerset & Dorset Railway themed Cotswold Festival of Steam. Originally earmarked for 2020, the event aimed to bring back memories of the famous line with a variety of motive power and scenes synonymous with it.
The event would see five visiting locos of all sizes with Bulleid Pacific No 34028 'Eddystone' from the Swanage Railway, BR Std 9F No 92203 'Black Prince' (making a welcome return to the line after many years as a resident) from the North Norfolk Railway, LMS Ivatt 2MT No 46521 from the Great Central Railway, LMS 2MT Ivatt Tank No 41312 from the Mid Hants Railway, and last but not least, Sentinel No 47109 'Joyce' from Midsomer Norton.
The weather over the weekend saw sun and blue skies, but also wind and rain at times, making it feel like and autumn or winter day at times!
