The section with the hand winches Toni are called Winzes, (or sumps in the Northern Pennines) when going down, if it was tunnelled up its called a Raise.

Spectacular explore Tony. What a very old mine it was finished in 1858 when most mines were just opening up. All credit to the preservation society for making this visit possible. The colours under the UV light are stunning. Lots to see & talk about down there Tony! ❤much love stay safe😊
