You forgot 1 critical thing in this step. You never drill brushed the glow plug hole. Why.? Well. You have a huge amount of carbon diesel build up inside that hole. Your glow plug will enter into the chamber fully and correctly. This step should have been done before you reinserted the glow plug. I removed my head only to find 2 plugs were fully inserted correctly. upon inspection, in turns out that I had at the bottom a full half centimeter of crap built up at the bottom where the glow plug enters into the chamber. Now I drill brushed out the chamber and threads and full entry into the chamber. However, you did a great job well done.

My retard mechanic broke off 2 plugs, trying to get me to.replace the head. Do you recommend these, I'm assuming a mechanic should be able to use it lol

Yeah, worry that seized glow plug will not come without patience and penetrating so you may as well do that in the first place. I took my time, about 7 minutes, to get all of glow plugs out easily

Curious, if the snapped glowplug came out with the element.. then that would leave a snapped hollow tube still stuck inside the cylinder head... therefore wouldn't the drilling or tapping swarf just fall directly into the cylinder and have no easy means of escape??
@slipperymud4 жыл бұрын
If you look at the intact glow plug , it is tapered and from what I've seen only the tip enters the cylinder head and can only go so far down. If I m wrong then i'm very lucky as i didn't get all the thread when drilling it out, I still had one thread holding it as you can see when i've pulled it out. But there is also a tool to snap the glow plug off and just leave the hollow tube in the head and then doing the same procedure as in the video, so it must only be able to go so far down.

Sorry i misunderstood your question, no as i blew most of it out and the swarf i didn't get would go inside the hollow tube. Ive also seen someone pull the plug out then place a bit of paper towel down into the plug hole then tap the new thread, then use a magnetic pencil tool to collect all the metal shavings etc. if the paper towel got stuck it would just burn up.

I broke a glow plug but I've still been driving it, is that bad?
@slipperymud4 жыл бұрын
If its stuck in the head still , it wont cause any damage, but it might be a bitch to start on one less cylinder in the winter, it will cough and splutter a bit until it worms up
