Connor is by far my favorite assassin. Everyone hates on how boring he is but I don't see it. He is subtle, calm, has complete control over his emotions. That doesn't make him boring. Take the last scene with Charles Lee. He takes a sit at the table and immediately puts the knife on the table within easy reach of Lee showing how much he is in control. Even Charles knew it as he reached for his bottle instead of the knife. Truly defeated.
@Hal_142 Жыл бұрын
huh? did you even play the game? Connor does NOT have control over his emotions lmao. he cries through the whole game about finding Charles Lee. every time they kill someone he whines about how killing isn't the answer while hypocritically going on a crusade trying to find Charles all the whole killing who knows how many people. even going so far as to order a bombardment on a town JUST to flush out Charles when he not long before claimed those very people are innocent by way of following orders. Connor is one of the WORST protagonists of AC history. the worst part is how he treats Achilles who gave him literally everything and even shrugs off his insensitive comments. yeah Connor later apologizes but still maintains his naive "let's just have peace" ideology.
@brasdous8786 Жыл бұрын
He acts like a child the entire game
@doomedoptimism101510 ай бұрын
@@Hal_142 You missed the point, Connor is not afraid to kill or opposed to it whole sale, he simply doesn't believe killing should be the way to deal with people that don't agree with you, and he gives people every opportunity to go about their lives peacefully when he can, it's their choices that ultimately force his hand, like he did with William Johnson. If he is going on a killing rampage on his path to Lee, that's actually your doing as the player, more so than a reflection on the character. The game does do a really good job at showing his path from a naive youth to the stoic and measured man he becomes in the end. Most of the disagreements he has with other characters are just because his values and ideals are in conflict with the rest of the characters, but everyone is playing at some kind of idealism, like Haytham, or Davenport. It's of course subjective, and to each their own, but I tend to agree with @druginducedfeverdream1613 on this one. He was badass.
@Hal_14210 ай бұрын
I had just finished the game when I wrote that comment. play it again or watch the cutscenes. Connor is a horrible person and even worse protagonist.
@FunnyStripes10 ай бұрын
Connor's neither evil nor horrible. He's just an extremely naive, childish, idealistic individual, as it's pointed out over and over again by both friends and foes. As a result, he cannot think nor see beyond a simple black and white vision, and miss that, much as it'd be super cool to have a world where all are free and living happily together ever after in harmony, that's just not how humans nor the world work. Sure, it might work for a small community, like his own tribe or the Davenport village. But the more people come together and the more complicated power structures become, the more it becomes blatantly obvious that what he longs for is just an utopia. People committing crimes blinded by greed, people in power going to war over disagreements, awful things having to be done or excused with the logic of of "for the greater good" and "by all means necessary", and so on so forth. Which makes sense, considering how after all he's somebody coming from a small native american community, to the much bigger, much more complicated "modern" western society of his time, which of course he can't understand nor knows much about. He lacks the proper experience and knowledge to be more realistic and cynical, and realize how humanity is very, very flawed, and these flaws are further compounded by having a bigger society in play, rendering complete freedom unachievable. And that's what makes the struggle even more sad, as both Templars and Assassins ultimately propose solutions that are utopical in nature. Freedom under the risk of anarchy, having humanity potentially losing itself completely by not having a clear goal or vision, falling to its own vices and imperfections. Or control under the risk of those in control becoming corrupted by power or being unfit, as after all, they are humans too, and humans are very fallible, no matter how brilliant; and so leading humanity towards some very dark if not self destructive path, one instead of being meant for collective, being carried out for the exclusive interests of a few tyrants.

Nevertheless, I do agree that it is a lot less fun without a hood on as you feel less badass.
@shadowofdread70184 жыл бұрын
Ed-man Blow The hood is only on in AC4 if you fast-travel. If you load into the city by sailing on your ship, the hood comes off unless you do the glitch to keep it on. For Rouge, I get that but that’s even dumber when you think about how pulling up your collar slightly just magically disguises you. It’s like “Hey, is that Shay Cormac? The guy who’s been hunting us down? “Nah that’s clearly someone else. I mean his entire head besides the sides are exposed and we can see the telltale scar over his eye but his collar is pulled up a few inches so it could be anybody.”

AC3 is probably still the most intelligent story to date, with Rogue and the first AC shortly behind it. In Ezio's story it was fairly clear as to who was good and who was evil, but AC3 took a lot of risks and tried to examine the morally grey. I usually hate grey narratives, because there are very few people who can do them without being overly preachy, but this was executed very well. The Assassins help the Patriots win their freedom from the British, but what does that mean for people like the Natives that the Templars were trying to preserve? Connor's actions have certainly been in service to the greater good, but what unintended consequences must others now suffer due to his lack of foresight and naivety? It's a bittersweet ending that is in many ways unsatisfactory and uncertain, and that makes it's the perfect conclusion to a morally grey story.
@Takokujin072 жыл бұрын
This was excellently put. This is my favorite AC game and character hands down. I also agree about Rogue and the first AC following. I hated Rogue's ending (story and characters was still very good) because they made the Assassins look so dumb, it didn't really make any sense to me. "When an Assassin is threatened, what they seek is order, not freedom" WHAT!? That modern Templar dude was smoking hella rocks to just say that lmaooo

For me personally, Connor learned that every victory has its consequences. Yes he saved the land (which also his tribe was trying to protect) from the templars , but on the expense of the white people kicking them out, I think this is the reason why Desmond chose to free that spirit lady. He didn’t want Connors goal to end with him. I can’t explain it correctly.

Coming back and watching this, I absolutely LOVE how they didn't do a "US is good, Britain is bad" and "Assassin is good, Templar is bad" story. Seeing everything from the eyes of a Native American, apparently a very accurate representation on top of that as well, and from the eyes of a Templar in the first few sequences brings it to a wider view on the war and "Assassin vs. Templar" conflict and shows the flaws on both sides. Soooo cool to see as an American interested in history. Love seeing the conflict between both sides, especially the exchange at 2:50:26. Both sides have a point, and there's no real "right" answer.

Yeah alot of thought went into developing the story for Assassin's Creed 3, more so than many other games, even though they have come up with good story lines too. But to weave the story within historical fact was an extra step taken, and made for a more interesting game. Loved the sea battles and how they played too. Two thumbs up and thanks GLP!

Awesome game. Also I think they swapped Washington and Braddock's hair colors at 1:21:15. Braddock was 60 in 1755 while George was 23 so he wouldn't have grey hair, I think they corrected that in Rogue.

I still love this game, but the ending just still pisses me off and bums me out to no end 😟😤 Don't even get me started on Vahalla's ending. It just feels like the outside the animus stuff just went downhill then off a cliff 😞🙁 Thank you so much for taking this! I love your videos! 😊💖

I swear, I feel like the audio quality of Haytham's dialogue is somewhat worse than the other actors. I noticed this when playing AC3, on release, and it's the same here. I wonder if the actor's dialogue was recorded in a different studio and/or different recording setup. It's possibly just the actor's voice but there are definitely plenty moments where it starts to sound a bit like a VOIP call, with an odd tone in the bass/deeper frequencies. Listen to the difference at roughly 22:25 vs Haytham and the other NPC. Haytham's dialogue almost has a "clicky" kind of sound to it. Then listen to Haytham's line at roughly 22:43. It's a massive difference. 47:55 is another good example of dialogue sounding less than stellar.

If you pause at 2:40 you can see symbols that represent future assassins creed games. This 1st one is origins, the 2nd is odyssey and the 3rd one must be some assassins creed game that takes place in Asia.

The perilous transatlantic crossing, in the mid 18th century, usually took at least six weeks and could take as long as two or three months.The ship at the beginning of the game cross the atlantic in 72 days=10 weeks 2 days=2 months 11 days.It took it so long, i speculate, because of the storm.

So you're telling me it took over 2 months for Kenway to get to America but Eivor traveled to Vinland, killed Gorm, explored the lands and returned in around 1 month.
