Ryan Thomas as much as I'd like to see them send it anywhere, that isn't how it works. It's a two part system that has to be put on and mixed at the exact same time. That's why there's that massive hose. It's like a rubberized epoxy. They'd have to come out and spray something for him.

Remarkable stuff. I understand it is becoming more popular as a coating for narrowboat hulls. Narrowboats usually have to be slipped from the water, stripped and coated with bitumen every 3 years or so. It seems this stuff is good for up to 30 years, so may well be worth the extra cost of treatment.
@glscoatingsltd72908 жыл бұрын
Hi slugfoot1, Yes, our GLS Coatings products are used extensively in the marine sector. Many of the fishing boats operating out of North Wales have our Specialist Protective Coatings on them - both on the decks as an anti-slip coating or on their hulls. It is, as you say, also ideal for narrowboat applications, removing the need to have them coated with bitumen every three years.
@slugfoot18 жыл бұрын
GLS Coatings Ltd Thanks for replying. As I am looking into buying a narrowboat eventually, what do you reckon the approximate cost of priming and coating the bottom half of a bare 60ft hull would be? Cheers.
@glscoatingsltd72908 жыл бұрын
Hi slugfoot1, Our GLS Coatings' Polyurea needs to be able to 'grip' onto the steel of your narrowboat hull. So, initially, it would need to be prep'd to SA 2.5. We would then apply a specialist primer - over which we would spray-apply our Polyurea coating. An approximate cost for our coating is c.£65 per m2 + the cost of the primer of around £15 per m2. I hope this helps.
@slugfoot18 жыл бұрын
GLS Coatings Ltd Thanks for that. This should help greatly in calculating cost vs benefits.

AWESOME,,,should have sprayed both sides of the blocks...
@glscoatingsltd72908 жыл бұрын
Hi scottgixxer67, The reason we didn't spray both side of the blocks was that we wanted to show the substrate breaking away and our coating remaining intact. However, in the real world, we WOULD have fully encapsulated the blocks for maximum protection. If we were creating a Chemical Bund within a breezeblock setting, we would only have coated the internal area. This is then effectively a seamless bag, impervious to a wide range of chemicals.

So like people that live in a block house have this as a coating and a storm comes through and they aren't home. When they return home they say while looking at the neighborhood in it's utter destruction then looking at their house and say. "We are so lucky we coated our house with that stuff" Then they open the front door and the inside is destroyed. And the house now having the structure of black paint stuff weakened by opening the front door collapses and kills the family.
