Thanks for that. It was fun making and Rick and I put a lot of effort into it. I was a bit disappointed in the the relatively low watch time it got.

Mike Great video, and great summary of the glue options. I generally follow the same basic ideas - Titebond for most wood-wood gluing, and epoxy when gluing dissimilar materials (metal or glass to wood). I also keep a bottle of polyurethane glue for special applications (eg, anything that needs to be weatherproof), but I find that it's too messy for most applications. I don't make a lot of pens, but the one application where it seems to have a natural fit is gluing brass tubes into pen blanks.\ One other suggestion - the 5mil nitrile gloves from Harbor Freight are great to protect your hands when applying glues.

Woodturners are the gluingest people I've ever met, and I surely follow by example. After a growing assortment of glues on the shelf, which when knocked over follow two rules of Murphy's law stating that when falling off the shelf, the bottle MUST eject the cap and MUST as well land in the deepest pile of fresh shavings from the lathe I decided to make a small box out of some thin offcuts to keep them in. Simple thing with pillars on the corner and slats along the sides so it's easily grasped without the need of a handle on top. Has cubbies built in to separate each type of glue so the box can be moved with one of the bottles removed without danger of tipping over another. Also has a couple spots for a handful of popsicle sticks and index cards for mixing. Now it's super easy to tote them wherever needed and I haven't had to pick shavings out of a glue bottle cap in a few months! :~)

Odd, just got a response from another fella using that address. I sent to an address with 356 in it. Otherwise, here's a link that should open up to it. drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx7nLP72K25sTmxwRW9BaUZWZ2dEeTBSTGloQmU3QW55ZS1r/view?usp=sharing

When I start a project, I always collect a sample of the sawdust to save for any "patching" that may be needed before the project is finished, a little saw dust and CA has saved many projects for me as I'm still pertty new and yes I do make plenty mistakes.

Mike, Thanks for another useful video. I appreciate that you keep your videos brief and to the point. I sometimes pass on watching other's videos if they are too long. One other tip with the Harbor Freight acid brushes, or any brand for that matter. They tend to lose bristles. In addition to trimming them, I always crimp the metal end with a Vice-Grip pliers. It helps hold the bristles in place. Lou

Hi Mike, I too have some glue brushes that are made of silicon, I got mine from the £ shop here in the UK. They were not sold as glue brushes, but as pastry brushes and I just re-purposed them. They are very cheap but even if the glue dries on them you can just peel it off, so they are great for glue.

I've seen a lot of turners use hot-melt glue. Do you? Like for mounting to a waste block.

Mike I'm a new turner, it would be nice to have a video on roughing a peace of wood to a bowl. The way you do it, do you use a worn screw?

Sometimes I use a WW screw. You may want to watch my How to Turn a Bowl playlist.
