Thanks for talking about this. As a schizophrenic myself i wait for any improved way of dealing with my condition. My medication is partially effective so any improved way of dealing with my situation is very much appreciated 😊

I imagine it would be difficult to come up with a clean glutamate modulator as it's so ubiquitous in neuro transmission. Awesome video as always and keep up the great work. Love the channel!

Thanks, I always appreciate the love and support. Glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter. The one benefit is if the hypothesis is correct the NMDA receptors will be hypofunctional everywhere. We will see if a pure glutamate medication can be designed, fingers crossed.

@@ShrinksInSneakers hi, do you have a video talking about the interactions of l-glutamine (or if it worsens symptoms of psychosis and schizophrenia) with quetiapine and other antipsychotic drugs? thanks! im taking 500 mg glutamine daily

Can you make a video on Tianeptine? It's an antidepressant, which seems to effect glutamate in the brain... Hence, effective in Depression and perhaps Depression with psychosis, don't you think?

Interesting video, would it be possible to only reduce glutamate in the mesolimbic pathway, and increase it in the prefrontal cortex? Surely if you reduce glutamate all together, delusions may reduce but the cognitive impairments of psychosis/ schizophrenia will continue if not worsen. Also, do drugs which increase glutamate then worsen schizophrenia? Would they not improve it if the glutamate was directed towards the cortex? I guess if it is a blanket increase the overall effect could be worse as delusions could become more intense if the mesolimbic pathway becomes more excited due to more glutamate. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to figure out how I can improve my condition.

Hi, long time no talk hahah I was wondering if you could maybe do a video about lyrica for use for anxiety..

These medications including Gabapentin are good to talk about. There are some Psychiatrists that swear by these for anxiety. There's some evidence to support the use and with gabapentin I often find it useful in alcohol use disorder where anxiety can be an issue. We can talk about it

Hello Dr. Rossi what are your thoughts and analysis of Tianeptine, for Schizophrenia using this hypothesis? It's a TCA which works by modulating glutamate transmission and activity of NMDA and AMPA receptors

Hi I'm new to your channel, but I have been very interested in the way we operate mentally as of late, but I've hit sort of a dead end to any understanding on blacking out when under extreme stress, and the initiation of the FFF response. I've been wondering if in the case of Fight what exactly is happening, and I haven't found much information on that topic. I was thinking you seem like someone who would have more of a deeper understanding if so that would be amazing otherwise great content I'm looking forward to watching more of your video's. 👍

What do you know about Sarcosine and NMDA receptors? Seems like a potential for preventing excess glutamate. Also reducing dietary gluten from diet.

what are your thoughts on Ketamine treatments in patients with ptsd anxiety?
@ShrinksInSneakers
@ShrinksInSneakers 2 жыл бұрын
I think there is some data to support ketamine use in PTSD. I worked with a researcher during residency who was using a single ketamine infusion along with a specific brand of mindfulness therapy for PTSD patients. His data was impressive. All of these new dissociative medications and psychedelics that are the rage in psychiatry right now have one thing in common they all increase neuroplasticity. It seems that neuroplasticity allows patients with PTSD to be more open to reconsolidating memories and psychotherapy. There is also interest in MDMA assisted psychotherapy which has some good data. There’s also a lot of work going on with the cannabinoid system in PTSD. These are exciting times, and I hope this helps. If you haven’t subscribed please do, and spread the word about what we are doing. Check out the Instagram page as well, we have new content posted daily.

@@ShrinksInSneakers hey there. Thank you for responding. I am seriously considering Ketamine since it use available in my area. Infusion that is. I am in a professional field, so figuring out what I can take and when can be a challenge. Again thanks for responding. Keep up the channel, it is very educational to understand my condition. My PCP doesn’t always have great solutions beyond CBT. Not sure how up to date my psychiatrist thoughts are in the areas of K and mdma. I appreciate it. Christopher

@@ShrinksInSneakers totally, I love NIN, Marilyn Manson and Fight Club (I saw your collectibles decor, so cool)… and Pixies, especially the tunes “Gouge Away”, “Caribou”, and “Where Is My Mind” (Fight Club) one of my favorite depression and hypomania theme songs. I even live next to the Caribbean and swim with the little fishes under my canal in my American flag Speedos when I feel like I can’t find my mind or neurotransmitters. Then I go practice my Tai Chi after I put something decent on… 😐 lol
