Anki Add-on Guide: Customize Your Answer Buttons

It appears as though the 'Later not now button' and 'More Answer Buttons for All Cards' add-ons are no longer available on AnkiWeb. I messaged the add-on author about this. It looks like he's decided on refactoring all of his add-ons, which is why he took his uploads down. The new versions should hopefully be available soon.

HELP!! I need the duplicate card notification disabled because everytime I make a card with the same key word, it tells me I have duplicated every new card I want to make. I really need to find an add-on to ignore duplicate notifications!! Help!! I do not mind having all my duplicate notifications turned off! I just need a way to find out how to!

Always good to learn more add-on through your videos! Thank you:) My two cents: " More Answer Buttons for New Cards" is not ideal because too many answer options will lead to mental fatigue. The act of thinking and choosing which answer option to press can be more tiring than actually answering the question, so I wouldn't recommend it. Though, as Glutanimate said, give it a try and see whether you like it.

Yeah, analysis paralysis is real. That's one of the reasons I'd recommend the version that only comes with buttons for new cards over the other one. Personally I think the potential time savings from rescheduling a known card surpass these detrimental effects, but it really depends on how you use Anki. For instance, if you're seeing the material you're studying for the first time, e.g. when going through a shared deck, then the additional buttons might not provide you with a lot of added benefit.

Does the More Answer Buttons for ALL Cards add on work with the Load balancer add on? Any videos about the load balancer add on? Thanks a lot!

Not sure, to be honest. The rescheduled cards will most likely just bypass the load balancing modifications. But I don't really use that add-on. It's too invasive and poorly documented for my likes. At the same time it does seem to be quite popular, so I think I will end up covering it at some point.

I suppose, rather than deleting them, I'd *change* them to extra_buttons = [{"Description": "", "Label": "17-21d", "ShortCut": "", "ReschedMin": 17, "ReschedMax": 21}, is that correct? Anki's setting *show next review time above answer buttons* is *ignored* , the Description is shown in any case, plus, why have almost identical descriptions and labels? Shortcut keys above '4' (5, 6, 7, 8) *conflict* with some *audio playback add-ons* .

+Hank iMac Thanks for the helpful notes. The defaults for the labels are a bit nonsensical, but I didn't want to use any more elaborate labels to avoid localization inconsistencies ( if all other buttons are in your native language it would look a bit weird if the added buttons would come with English labels. Yes, leaving the values empty is the way to go if you want the respective labels not to show up. I'll think about making the descriptions follow Anki's default setting. About the hotkey conflicts: Not much that we can do about that, I'm afraid, but it's a good thing you've pointed it out for new users.

Is there any tutorials for Anki Universial? I can use some of the basic functions, but the fields look nothing like what you have. They're very basic and I not understanding how to get the add-ons.

Hi Glenn, Anki Universal is by a different group of developers than Anki. It is compatible with Anki's file format and can also sync cards to AnkiWeb, but does not come with the entire featureset of Anki-proper. Add-ons are not supported, for instance. Anki Universal is fine for reviewing cards and doing simple editing tasks, but if you'd like to get the full Anki experience you will have to use the desktop app found at apps.ankiweb.net/.

Hi Rea, it looks like the author decided to remove all of this add-ons from AnkiWeb. As far as I know he is planning to overhaul and re-release them soon as an add-on bundle. I'll try to update the links in the description once that happens.
