Oh, noooo! Never, ever use neat glycerine on your paper! The correct ratio is *2ml vegetable glycerine to 100ml water* - no more, because if you do, it leaves a shiny sheen on the painting at the end, which is not what we want. If using a water brush, add one *drop* to a full tank of water - again, no more, for the same reason. No, this will not harm the archival aspect of your painting, or any other. Glycerine is actually used in our paints as a humectant to help the paint to flow more freely, and not to crack so easily. Among other things, it's also used in skin care products, to soften dry skin. Vegetable glycerine is also vegan friendly, because it is what it says it is - vegetable glycerine. It's also used in the pharmaceutical industry. 😊

@@MarionChapmanArtist Glad I could help. BTW, make sure that you are buying *vegetable* glycerine. The animal version is a really bad idea, but I haven't seen it on sale when I've done my research. :)

Do you also know the right mixture for putting paints in pans? Some of my Daniel Smith Primateks dry hard like a rock. I would like to mix glycerine in to make it easier to rewet...but I don't know how much I have to mix in

​@@kreativeReise For half pans one drop per pan. Put it in when the pan's half full and mix it in thoroughly with a cocktail stick or equivalent metal stick. Finish filling the pan and stir thoroughly again. For a full pan, two drops. *Common sense tip,* as glycerine's a gloopy liquid: practice using your dropper beforehand, so you don't overdo it. 😊

did not understand...did the paint ever dry with all the glycerin used or did you have to tamp it off with a paper towel or such.
