Glycine powder is quite sweet. Like sugar. 1 tsp of it gets you about 3g, and you can put it in tea/coffee/herbal tea. Good for muscle building, better sleep, and countless other things. Our lack of nose-to-tail diet, which we used to have, means that modern people are all low, not just those with metabolic syndrome.

Glycine Supplement changed my Life! For one, I wasn’t sleeping for 5 plus years. I’d sleep an hour here and there. Never had dreams which probably mean I had no REM sleep. I take 1600 Mg daily, not all at once. I have been dreaming for two weeks!

I got a severe keto rash from intermittant fasting - using traditional liver detox herbs like milk thistle, burdock, dandelion didn’t help. I came across a video about supporting liver detox with glycine and b6. It worked right away when I started supplementing. It made me think I am more prone to the keto rash as I also sometimes get psoriasis AND I’m East Asian female with a severe intolerance to alcohol due to genetic lack of those enzyme that process it. I don’t understand all the science behind it but supplementing glycine has really helped! Your videos are great!

Wow! I’ve taken Carlson’s glycine for years now and reversed 10 years of Ulcerative Colitis with it in just 1 month. I’m slowly finding out all the things I’ve taken that helped me are also good for type 1 diabetics. About to take a blood test to find out if that’s been my root problem all along…

I use Curcumin for Ulcerative Colitus as I had difficulty with the drugs prescribed. It is the active compound in Turmeric so is a natural anti inflammatory and works well.

Your ups and downs of insulin resistance video series is fantastic, and I am hoping you will do another one in the series, this one on histidine! I have seen a couple of studies which found low histidine in metabolic syndrome, and one in particular which identified 3 major groups, those low in glycine, those low in histidine, and those low in both. Fingers crossed you will find this a good subject for another one of your phenomenal videos!

Must be honest, histidine is not something that is currently on my radar. I will look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I look forward to seeing your take on it if you find it worth including in your series. I would also be interested in seeing a video on excess folic acid in the overweight, especially as relating to those with MTHFR defects.

Great video thanks years ahead of its time! I megadose 10-20g in coffee a day to balance higher methionine from all the chicken I eat on body builder diet. I try to do it with decaf toward end of day as it’s an inhibitory neurotransmitter (makes me calm & tired) so I do trimethylglycine during day instead. So so many benefits, it’s like a laundry list these days. plus many studies show it improves dental hygiene even. And super cheap. Even if I get a lot from collagen & diet & body indigenous 3g, I still think supplementing is necessary with all this meat & too plant based is too hard for MPS for me (but then could do less glycine), but keep saturated fat intake super low to maintain low apoB.

Hi do you know anything about the relationship between high glycine and gout or high oxalate problems? Richard
@Betterbodychemistry Жыл бұрын
Hi. Not aware of any connections between glycine and gout, but there is definitely a connection between glycine and oxalate. It is coming via an enzyme called alanine-glyoxylate aminotransferase, which converts glyoxylate (which is toxic) into glycine, playing a central role in glyoxylate detoxification. A genetic defect in this enzyme results in primary hyperoxalurias, severe human diseases in which toxic levels of oxalate are produced by the liver, resulting in progressive renal damage. There is an animal study which suggests high glycine can suppress oxalate crystal deposition. Not sure if this helps.

Should we take glycine together with collagen?
@Betterbodychemistry9 ай бұрын
Not necessary............ effectively they are the same thing.

Collagen is 30% glycine & I for sure supplement both, & it tastes amazing in a protein shake with the collagen or in some tea of coffee & even as a mouthwash, it’s excellent for oral hygiene surprisingly(look up new RCTs on it)

A paper published in 2021 showed glycine reduced urine oxalate but increase urine citrate so it potentially can reduce kidney stone formation if that is what you were worried about? Paper ref. You Lan et. Al, J. Cell Physiology 2021. Title Glycine suppresses kidney calcium oxalate crystal depositions via regulating urinary excretions of oxalate and citrate.
