If the Gauge Cluster Odometer in you in your GM vehicle wont stop scrolling through Language Settings, I'll show you how to FIX IT FOR FREE in about 10 minutes. The only tool needed is a 7mm socket.
The error is caused by the build up of static electricity in the gauge cluster circuit board. It generally happens to me when the truck is put on a jack or jack stands for service. This actually grounds the vehicle out. The vehicle is normally insulated from the ground by tires. I'm not sure exactly how this causes the issue, I just know it does from personal experience.
To discharge the static electricity, you just need to remove the gauge cluster, remove the rear cover, and run your hand across the back of the circuit board. As ridiculous as that sounds, it actually works. It costs you nothing but 10 minutes of your time, and saves you several hundred dollars.

Mine just randomly changes the displayed language. No scrolling just French when I start my truck. Sometimes Spanish but usually French.

There ain’t no way, I acquired my Denali from my aunt and she said the odometer has been turning itself on for years, YEARS, it was killing the battery so bad she had someone “fix” it by cutting a wire and adding a switch between the wires, I put the wire back together and removed the switch and issue was still apparent, I’ve been torn on this for a few hours, found this video and fixed it in 2 mins (I already had everything off), you are the best!

You "ground" your vehicle and time you get fuel so that's definitely not it

Plastic fuel tank, rubber filler neck…not sure I’m buying it. But maybe, probably, idk.

@@freedomworx the fuel neck I my 07 Duramax is metal. The fuel nozzle on the pump is grounded. Not only that all vehicles have a battery and a place for static to dissipate. When you touch your vehicle after you get out and build up a charge in your body a spark will jump to the vehicle. Definitely not static buildup

Interesting theory and repair. Haven’t owned many GM vehicles to experience that issue, but it sounds logical as to why it occurs. How’s the service body doing?
@freedomworx

Thanks. I didn’t come up with the repair, just the theory. The service body is good. I’m about to start building a bigger small block for it, and contemplating Air Ride 🫣

I was very doubtful when I did this, but it worked perfectly! The only thing was after I was done I just had to go in and change the language back to english. Just did that by holding in the button until the language showed up and switching it to english. Thank you so much!

What a ridiculous video, the problem is soldering cracks, and you have to re soldering some electronic components or where you see cracks.

If this really is the issue, lay some plywood under the jack and it won't ground out.

I can't tell if this is a joke or serious lol. I've had my truck for 20 years and 242,000 miles and my cluster has never gone wonky 🤷‍♂ Well, except for the engine hours randomly resetting to zero. 242,000 miles and only 72.9 hours 🤣

I’m serious actually. It’s just a temporary fix. It’s not a long term solution. Might be a little voodoo involved.

I have a theory that you have a bad ground such as when you discharge the truck, the cluster doesn't get discharged, putting it on a different electrical plane from the truck. Humans are decent electrical conductors (sometimes with bad results) By touching the board while sitting in the seat, you're discharging it into the truck. I would check for a bad ground wire on the cluster next time you're in ther. Alternatively, you could put a rubber pad on your jack and put a little rubber on the jack stands (folded over dishwashing gloves should do in a pinch) thereby keeping the truck insulted from ground.

PS I have a 2009 Chevy Express 3500 with the same cluster and over 315,000 miles with no issues with the cluster (the stabilitrak, and abs however.....I may replace the speed sensors just to make it stop dinging all the time lol)
