Sicilian Rossolimo variation is a very popular choice to meet the Sicilian defense. Fabiano Caruana was employing it during his 2018 match for the World Championship title against Magnus Carlsen, and I've played it myself for years! Watch the latest episode of GM Neiksans Boot Camp and find out, why it is such a great opening.

Hi, thanks for the amazing content ! Is it possible to play c3 and early d4 against g6 ?

Hi, Toshiro, thank you! Probably it is, but Black can respond any c3 and d4 plans with the immediate d7-d5, giving him good game. Doesn't mean it's unplayable.

Every time I come back to this lecture I like it better, I’m sure theory has progressed but being at a level just shy of master I still find it very useful. Resorting to tucking the bishop back on f1 has slimmed down theory greatly and gives a very comfortable game after c3 d4 fight for center. As for when you are forced to double blacks pawns of the c file, this pawn structure is achieved at a cost for black from lack of preparation (otherwise there is time to re1 bf1 maneuver). Nonetheless, in doubles pawn positions opponents typically find it difficult to release their light square bishop, produce counter play, and defend their doubles pawns. It takes a lot of skill from black to balance these tasks which for some reason seem to have to happen concurrently (I guess due to whites development advantage). Generally, white wins a pawn and/or suffocates black who finds themselves in effect playing their light square bishop down as their center collapses.

Yeah, for the old boot camps I was uploading the whole video raw, without any editing. Sorry about that. :)

If the focus is more on the explanation of the lines rather than digression into anecdotes and waffling it will be much better and useful for the viewers.

To each their own but I prefer this over a list of bullet points read to me, here you get a sense of dialogue as he works his way through the logic of each line before giving a reason he pivots to the next line

buddy I am sure you are a great player being a GM, but your videos drive me crazy, first you spend half an hour recommending one line and then all the sudden you go like "actually this line is not good, it's better to play this move", if you want to make instructional videos PREPARE them

Looks like 5. d4 (a) is becoming more popular than, and (b) performs better than, 5. Rd1, after 4…Nge7.
