GM's Ryan Buffa Gives a Tour of the Chevrolet Blazer EV Infotainment

General Motors' manager of digital business strategy Ryan Buffa gives us a tour of the infotainment system in the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV. The Blazer is the first of GM's new EVs that features an updated Android Automotive system with Google Automotive Services but drops support for Apple Carplay phone projection.

I just bought a chevy Equinox ev and it has the same system. I was worried about having no car play, but after using this system, this is as good, or better that car play. It is seamless in how it plans routes including scheduling battery pre conditioning

I thought he gave an excellent presentation and answered all the apple and android questions with positive results that don't leave you wanting the old connections. Tesla does the same and I believe the critical reason is to give the best range estimates and quicker speed on the screen for connections. With 5g on the car, there will be few areas where it doesn't get good reception.

Agree. It is a well integrated system. I wont miss android auto or Apple carplay at all

i don't have a electric car but even when using CarPlay my gas gage still work. Fact is they want to charge you to use the FREE google map, how fuckup is that.

Unless I missed it I didn't see any multi-tasking. I don't need full screen maps

you can simply put your map in the gauge cluster that still give you some info on your speed etc. So you can freely choose whats going on on the bigger screen. also looks like theres some multitask at 7:00

That's up to Apple to submit it for automotive use in the Play Store. They have an Android version of Apple Music, but it needs to be specifically tagged if they want it in vehicles

@@WheelBearingsCast Hopefully they add that in an OTA update! Personally, I am excited to ditch unreliable CarPlay and be able to just jump in my car and go. I know Teslas got the AppleMusic app as an OTA update, so hopefully it comes to GM in the future. AppleMusic is the only thing holding me back from abandoning CarPlay.

No CarPlay , bye bye GM My garage door appear in CarPlay , I will not get my garage door in Android automotiv With CarPlay no red of three years subscription , I ALREADY PAY a subscription on my phone forever. CarPlay lets have all the thing from the phone of the driver of the moment because they plug their phone . I don’t want people see my thing if they use my car . Bad GM … you will need CarPlay anytime soon

​@@WheelBearingsCast Still didn't answer the question. How much will it cost when the "free" service runs out? Will it follow the vehicle if I buy it used? Will I be able to download media to use if I go to an area without service? These are all questions that until answered I will not even consider this system.
