So glad she is alive to tell the story! This is what I mean about things happening within living memory. She witnessed the mob and the burning of her family home. Yet, she still is in good spirits. I’m glad she was gifted a home. This brings to mind the remaining living victims of the Tulsa massacre. They literally experienced the same horror as children. But no government officials punished any one from the white mob. The victims were punished for no reason and their property was destroyed, which crippled them economically. In a recent court case, they were denied reparations for enduring and surviving it.
