*TLDR: I'm grateful Kristin was celebrated bc she deserves it! Sadly though, Kristin wasn't given much except for a Disney cruise. Kristin VOLUNTEERS a lot of her time so she's working for free and as a result, deserved a better gift from GMA! Instead, this turned into marketing for Disney. If Disney wanted to put out this AD, they should have at least given Kristin and her family all-expenses paid trips to their parks! Kristin will undoubtedly now have to pay her own $$$ for this trip on food/drinks/etc. Disney has the money to have done this but sadly, this was just about getting airtime for their cruises that are likely boring after the 2nd day anyway! GMA and/or Disney should have given her family an all-expenses PAID trip to anywhere in the world they would all enjoy, not this.* *All that being said, it's beautiful to see Kristin being celebrated like this! I especially loved her stepdaughter, Aaliyah, and her response when she called Kristin, "really pretty" ❤ It means so much to see that little Black girls can see the undeniable beauty, (inside and out,) of fellow Black women & girls. This is because it means Aaliyah sees that same beauty in herself which is incredible bc too often are little Black girlsade to feel "ugly" or "not as beautiful as their white counterparts" which is HEARTBREAKING!!! 😔 I also appreciated how Kristin's mother said that she aspires to be like her daughter. How special!!! To have your mom publicly declare how proud she is of you is every daughter's dream. It's also so lovely that they flew her GORGEOUS friends out to see Kristin!* 💕 *Now I will say that, I only wish GMA would have given Kristin a tangible gift of some kind other than just the cruise!! Why couldn't they also give Kristin a monetary gift? I know that's not the most important thing that matters in relation to the happier Kristin was to see her loved ones, but I'm sure it would have been appreciated! Cruises are expensive and spending money to use while on the cruise would have been great bc all Disney is doing is ensuring Kristin and her loved ones will have to spend their own money towards them. Just because Disney covered the ticket prices still means Kristin's loved ones will have to pay for food, drinks, etc.* *And I'm sorry, but Disney should have also sent her & her loved ones to their theme parks. There's only so much to do on a cruise and the parks would have given them a chance to do more than a cruise ever could. GMA has plenty of money to have given her financial compensation. Kristin does a lot of what she does as VOLUNTEER work which likely means it's unpaid. Why not bless her with a real, monetary gift also?? Clearly this was just an extended "ad" for Disney's cruises.... they created their feel good moment so their audience would associate their cruises with the lovely/special feelings we all got from watching Kristin be honored. Also let's keep it 100, not everyone likes cruises! Since GMA made it a point to bring up how Kristin wanted to go on vacation with her family, why not instead gift her with an all-expenses, PAID trip to anywhere in the world they wanted to go?? Idk how long the cruise is, but again, all there is to do on the cruise is see shows, eat, drink, and go swimming. That sounds incredibly boring after a few days! I still love the idea of celebrating moms everywhere, but the "prizes" offered here were laughable. GMA should have just offered an all-expenses PAID trip so Kristin's family could do something THEY ALL WANTED TO DO!!! I'm not even related to Kristin or know her in any way but even I am a little sad this is all GMA did. They pretended to celebrate her so Disney could market their cruise. Idk, maybe I'm too cynical and in the end, I'm still happy she was honored but the tangible prizes should have been better. Instead, this tuned into a glorified marketing campaign for Disney cruises!* 😭
