But this was the right thing to do also in Ana's and Sabrina's cases!!! The thing is for the Romanian girls it was : "they should know better, they are bad losers" and so on... NO! The three of them have gone through really heartbreaking moments, and it was none of their fault! The three girls did what they know how to do: perform the best they could that day! It was the judges and Jordan's coach ("the adults", as i call them) that made a huge mess. And who is paying for this mess? Three great gymnasts! Because they were all great that day (you may not like someone's style or difficulty, but it doesn't change the fact that they did great routines). So, Jordan's mental health is very important, but for Sabrina and Ana is the same! And none of the three deserves to be bullied or accused... People need to be fair! To everyone...

I do not believe Jordan's performance was medal-worthy on that day. I believe the Romanian girls were robbed and that judges made mistakes...or were pressured by a very powerful U.S. N.O.C. That being said. I do love this all black girl magic podium. I cry every time I watch the girls hug and bow and hold hands. I am proud of Jordan even though mistakes were made by officials.

they didn’t appeal her execution score, just her starting score. they hadn’t gave her credit for a skill she performed so they went back and fixed their error. they didn’t change the score of *how* she performed, just *what*

@@maryjaneberrys Yeah, I agree, I don’t know how these things are overlooked at the beginning of an event as the elements are known, expected and judged by virtue of the level of difficulty, I don’t believe the Rom athlete was cheated but they should resolve all calculations before posting numbers, I do fell bad for her, and it’s not the first time this has happened

There is one judge for Execution and another for Difficulty. Judges know the expected difficulty at the beginning of the routine, but while watching the performance, the D score judge(s) mark skill by skill whether each to give credit for each skill to count in the difficulty score. The skill can be downgraded or completely removed from the D score if the D score judge(s) feels it does not meet the necessary requirements to be credited as a completed skill. Afterwhich, the Coach/Athlete can submit an inquiry for that skill to be reviewed. How well Jordan performed the skill was technically not the issue in question. That's a part of the Execution score and it cannot be changed. The question was, did they give her credit for even doing that particular skill and it was found that they did not. So, the E score remained the same since it can not be changed, but they had to give her credit for doing the skill, which was worth one tenth more in the D score. So, the combined cumulative score ended up being one tenth higher, which was enough to put Jordan ahead. This was long, but context is in the detail.

@@freddycooks It was Sabrina that they underscored. She earned a 13.700 with a -0.1 penalty for going out of bounds. However, NBC footage of her routine shows that she didn't go out of bounds. Nadia Comaneci has the clip on her Instagram page. The Romanian coaches submitted an inquiry for her routine just like they did with Jordan, but Sabrina's score remained unchanged while Jordan's score put her in 3rd place. Without the -0.1 OOB penalty, Sabrina's score would earn her the bronze medal above Jordan's revised score.
