It's too early to say anything about it at this point. Experts are analysing the GMAT focus official prep resources released recently: nature of questions, difficulty levels, etc. One such experiment was conducted by us recently - checking the importance of first few questions on the exam. Here is the link to that discussion gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-focus-algorithm-importance-of-the-first-6-questions-is-gone-418176.html

Hello, Do you have services where you provide individual advice to test takers about potential retakes? I am willing to pay for such services. I got a 645 on the GMAT focus with a 95 percentile in DI and mid70s percentile in quant and verbal. I do not know whether to take it again. Thank you, Jeett

Hi. Sorry GMAT Club does not offer paid tutoring or consulting services but you are welcome to post your question on the forum. You will likely get a number of suggestions and free advice. You can decide if you want to pay later.

Hey Charles, with the focus being shifted more towards the ‘percentile’ system, how would we differentiate between 800 score point and percentile college cutoffs? Should we expect the colleges to announce them after the first few tests are done or anytime soon or should we still use the score-conversion tables? And similarly would that mean the cutoffs keep updating every year? Also a lot of tutors would be giving the tests in its first few sittings, wouldnt that affect a student’s percentile vs a tutors in the initial few months? Consequently should we wait a few months to give the tests?

@ayushnagar04 - one of the simplest ways would be to map percentiles. If your target school has a median score of 730, map it to 685. If the number is 700, then aim for a 645. That is the best we can do right now. I suspect that schools will release GFE median scores only in 2024, once they have some data from R3. In addition, you also get this data when you take the official GFE mocks (if memory serves me right).

The percentiles for GMAT Focus have already been released, surprisingly. My understanding is GMAC recalculated percentiles for Focus based on the results of the Classic GMAT with hundreds of thousands of tests so it seems there would not be any issues with any score inflation.

Hey Charles, Can you please suggest good practice/mock tests for focus edition?

Is GMAT focus sectional adaptive? and isn't it better to have one to one mapping between classic and focus scores rather the current concordance table maps single focus score between two classic scores
@egmat11 ай бұрын
@mahesh - the GFE is adaptive. Note the GCE (current GMAT) and the GFE test a slightly different set of skills. While, most quant and verbal are common across the tests, DI is completely new in GFE. Doing a one-on-one mapping would be equivalent to gauging a student's PCB (medical) ability based on his PCM (engineering) scores. It can only be done to a certain degree, and to that degree, the GMAC has provided the concordance tables.
