Violations part is bit tricky here. Got confused and had to repeat the video several times. Is there that we can have the violations also expressed in the Selections / Combinations format? like 8C3 - NCP ways to arrive at 56 - 32?

we can express 24 as 4C1*6C1 ( choose one set of twins is 4C1 and choose any one from remining 6 is 6C1 ). With practice this will become easier. So 32 = 8C3 - 24 = 32. Hope this helps

Hello Mr. Jackson! I hope you had an excellent Christmas celebration this year. I came across one DS question from Manhattan GMAT which is bit confusing while forming algebraic equations. Need your help in getting it the confusion cleared. Here is the question: Answer to this is (B) The number A is a two-digit positive integer; the number B is the two-digit positive integer formed by reversing the digits of A. If Q = 10B - A, what is the value of Q? 1. The tens digit of A is 7 2. The tens digit of B is 6. The solution used variables (X&Y for A&B)

Hi MrSasec, Thanks for your wishes and message. Pls find the explanation to your question below. A = 10X + Y B = 10Y + X Q = 10B - A = 10(10Y + X) - (10X + Y) = 99Y Y is the unit digit of A and the tens digit of B Hence the answer is B as statement 2 gives us the tens digit of B Hope this helps. Regards, Jackson

@@jackson_kailath Hello Mr. Jackson... Thank you so much for your response. Actual confusion was the equations formed for A & B. I assume XY is a 2 digit positive integer for A and so it becomes YX for B. So, if I substitute these values in the equation for Q = 10B - A like Q = 10(YX) - XY. I could not make out further. When I looked at the solution, I find the equations for A and B as A= 10X + Y & B= 10Y + X ( I don't understand how these equations are formed). I'm sorry for repeating the same question. Please see if you can help me with the equations formed for A and B. Remaining part is understood

Let me give you an example, the number 23 =2*10+3 so xy =10x +y

@@jackson_kailath Thank you so much Mr. Jackson. Very nicely explained. You are always awesome and prompt at clearing our doubts with ease. I understood the solution by your example of using the number 23 & 32 which that forms these equations A(XY 23) = 10X + Y (as 10.2 + 3) & B(YX 23) = 10Y + X (as 10.2 + 3). From here, remaining part is simple.
