I want to buy a new fork but dont know how much travel I can fit. its a 2021 Giant Stance E+1 625 29er. Giant is useless in getting the answer. Currently have 130mm can I go 150mm. added a 2 degree slack headset also. Rear is 120mm.

I go either way with Fox or RS. I own both on several bikes. As for drivetrain, mostly Shimano on my bikes. I only have one SRAM bike. They both have their pluses and minuses.

I find Fox/Marz firmer off the top, so I find more confidence inspiring for me. I think the newer iterations of RS have addressed that a bit but I kept fighting my last RS fork to get the feel I want and still having the full use of all the travel.

The entry level of Shimano is way better than SRAM in my opinion.. high end stuff is pretty close between the two brands. Brake's I think I prefer Shimano.

I find it hard to believe Lewis got the strength of that crank arm perfect first time, even “the original company” had a few reports of failures when they released them.
I really like my AXS over mechanical transmission. I love my Fox 38. I absolutely love my EXT E-Storia. Edit: I love the Death Grip flanged. My hands butt right up to the flange and my hands are perfect everytime.

Suspension: Fox. Entry level Fox feels much better than midrange rockshox in my opinion at the same price. Brakes: Shimano. They just work great and are more dependable - entry level to high end. Mineral oil is less maintenance. Also I like the XT levers very much. Gears: Sram - they just look much sexier. And I like the Shifters better. :D

As far as the forks, I don't have a preference. Brakes and gears Shimano. The brakes are purely because they generally use mineral oil. The gears I find Shimano smother shifting than Sram. But really, it all up to the personal preference of the rider. They are all good products.

The shimano shifter on my $300 schwinn shifts faster than my sram eagle gx by a long shot… and the trigger up shift is loads better than thumb up thumb down…

Honestly I'm sure not alot of people know this but all of rockshox fork lowers are throw away when the bushings go bad is why I prefer fox cheaper to service in the longer run and more modular.

Doesnt matter which brand as long as they work well, reasonably priced, and easy to get parts. But i have multiple bikes so I prefer to stick to 1 brand of drivetrain, suspension and tires for interchangeability

I'm close to giving up mtb. Taken 3 weeks to order a calliper adapter, posted from about 50 miles away. Gave up waiting. Seems to be happening all the time with bike parts. Bike shops don't stock many parts these days, leaving the internet only. I have money, just no service available to buy.

We do mention the new EXT forks in the news - and yeah we tried to stay just in the mainstream with the brands - as well we could have been trapped just naming all the other suspension brands - so no slight on them at all more theres a lot of brands to cover What suspension are you a big fan for and which shifters click for you? Well…despite my mention of those brands, I’m running Marzocchi Bombers and Fox rear shock at the moment, but have had just as much fun on RS and DVO, not to mention the better Suntour stuff. From a shifter perspective, I’m a Shimano XT guy all day long. Old habits die hard. Been a Shimano guy since the 90’s.

Shimano stoppers microspline drive train rockshox fork trans X dropper with specialized tires on the hardtail. Shimano stoppers shimano hg drivetrain and shifters Marzocchi and fox suspension with maxxis tires on the fs. Prefer the feel of shimano brakes for my style of riding, shimano drivetrain came on the fs and I like it just fine, went with microspline to try it out on the hardtail and have been very impressed with how sturdy it has proven to be and very snappy and positive feel.
