The Aussie version of a full size truck that we've always wanted but could never get. If only it had a manual trans, a reasonable price, oh and actually being available. Keep your fancy interiors, your big screens, your drive modes and give us something basic that Toyota has been doing overseas for 40+ years please. Best looking GM truck I've seen.

It needs a manual transmission and this tire mount rotated 90 degrees so you can see out the back. A solid front axle would also be nice. Good concept, but AEV could have gone a little bit farther to where good ideas become great and practical ideas.👍

Manual transmissions are not strong enough to hold up to the torque of modern diesel engines. The tire was mounted verticle to keep as much usable space of the bed as possible. Rear visibility is always impacted by cargo in the bed and that is the point of the tray bed.

@@aevnate4140 Of course manual transmission are strong enough for modern diesel. A NV5600, with a gross weight of 350 lb will do the trick or the last manual transmission in full size pickups: the G56, which was available until 2018 on the 4th generation Ram. For the tire, I suggest to rotate it 90 degrees. This means to put it in the driver's blind spot, in between the rear driver wheelwell and the cab.

@@dyoutubechannel8218 That G56 Ram was derated from the factory, but at the end of the day, the consumer dictates what is profitable for car manufacturers to put in these trucks and no one was choosing a manual. I can't think of many cases where a manual would be better than an automatic. If we rotated that tire away from the headache rack of the flatbed we would have to build another structure to support it, and then it would block a large section to load from the side of that tray bed. It really is a non-issue when you load the bed with either gear or dual sport bikes you won't see out of the back window anyway.
