2 things I realized I was doing 1> going flat down... foot flat, left butt cheek only on the floor and back arch 2> attempting to do the move bare feet and in shorts... used to take a toll on my knees. but just now was the easiest I executed a proper dip for the first time and I started learning vogue less than a year... thank you for this video. you've earned this subscription

I would love to know how the dramatic dip become a 'deathdrop'...anyone here?

Because you "drop dead"

You mean the misterminology of the dip? I think it started with the mainstream Rupaul drag race. Laganja arguably introduces the dip to the show and from there they started calling it a death drop. If not this, idk what you mean.

I would love to see a "death drop" vs "dip" video. The two moves get confused for each other, when a proper "death drop" is when you squat down, and throw yourself back, catching yourself with your hands and letting your legs continue backwards in a side split. The effect resembles being shot with a shotgun, but with glamor.
@misoweli6 жыл бұрын
well what you described is a v layout. the death drop most people think of is where you fall into a jazz split with your back on the ground, popularized by drag queens. due to the popularity of drag race and the similarity between death drops and vogue dips, the terms have been confused

All that is wrong. A death drop aint more than a dramatic dip.

As a drag queen this video is so helpful because I’ve attempted a “dramatic dip” on too many occasions and failed leaving myself to look like someone put some oil on the floor and I slipped at the end, lol so Thankyou ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ok cool and all to know the history of where the death drop from RuPaul came from but why is everyone so heated that no one knows it’s a dip anymore. This happens a lot, everything evolves. Instead of being mad, this could just be a fun fact, everything comes from something I don’t think this is worthy of being mad about.

Is it weird that a straight guy loves this move? I think it’s the coolest most elegant thing. I call it Death Drop because... ... i think the move says:”Look at me, i’m DROP DEAD GORGEOUS.” (the vibe i get from it)

Old Okie Grandma learning the culture here. So why does everyone put out their hands & point in sync as someone dips? Is that how people vote? Is it symbolic of helping the dancer get back up & showing support? Love watching & learning about different forms of dance all around the world. Thanks!
