GMDA's plans and projects to mitigate Guwahati flash floods

On August 5th, Guwahati experienced three hours of intense rainfall, resulting in massive waterlogging and widespread traffic disruptions across the city.
The heavy downpour exposed the city's vulnerability to flash floods, prompting urgent discussions about both the causes and potential solutions. Business North East spoke with Narayan Deka, Chairman of the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), to understand the underlying reasons for the persistent waterlogging and the measures being planned to address the issue.
