Just did 321 ribs on mine last week! They were baby backs so it was more 2, 1.5, .5 Mine struggles at anything under 225. Flames out, overloads, SMOKE SHOW, then overshoots. Still turned out amazing though! Have a RecTeq on the way I ordered last night! The Davy is going in the camper

Nice, Thanks for watching! This was my first cook on a pellet, I've been a charcoal head for years. That's a good idea for switching pellets, hopefully when I get to know the cooker a little better I can put just enough in for each cook. This little gmg grill was a great entry to pellets for under $300 👍

I love doing the 3-2-1 can’t wait to pick up my DC this week. I have two jimmy Bowie primes at home and wanted a dc for the road

Be safe out there and grill on! 👊

Use the food probe. Thats what it is for. You won’t have to keep opening up the grill and toothpicking the meat. Its not a cake!
@cookoutside6444 жыл бұрын
No food probes on ribs!!! Cook to desired tenderness not temp. Thanks for the tip though, I was gonna put candles in it until you reminded me that it's not cake 🤪

Looks great. Cherry wood gives that Mahogany Red color like no other wood.

Yessir it sure does!! It would be cool if the DC had an easy way to drop pellets but not a huge deal.

The Wi-Fi trick is to reboot your phone and connect to grill only/first. I struggled with this on a security camera and realized if my phone connected to house wifi, it could NOT reconnect to grill. Rebooting let it connect right away every time. My grill was same way. If I did it out in yard away from wifi, it went, but when i took grill camping and came home, it was stubborn again. Had to reboot my phone, reconnect to grill, then switch grill to house. Frustrating, but once you know, it's no problem.

That looks good! What time do you want us over for dinner?

thats how they all work. Otherwise, the grill would have to join your network, which most of these can't do, and if they can, its a pain in the ass. My BBQ gurus unit for my BGE works the same way.
@Earshot4 жыл бұрын
Hang on. You need to leave your home wifi network to use the app? So if other things on one's phone depend on a wifi connection, one cannot smoke meat and use the phone? Thanks.
@cookoutside6444 жыл бұрын
My (limited) experience with the WiFi is you connect the cooker to your network and then connect your phone to the cooker. Your phone should still have internet but my experience is that it's not a very good signal but that could be isolated to my network. I've found it easier to not use the wifi and just check in on the cooker.

Awesome thanks! I'll try this on my next cook.

Is there an easy way to empty the pellet hopper? It is set for 250, but how do you know the actual temperature inside?
@cookoutside6443 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary. I guess you could scoop them out but I haven't tried that, there is no pellet dump though. I used my grate thermometer that I use in my weber kettles to check the grill temp and in my case its pretty close, within 5°. Thanks for watching.

Yea Im an old Weber fan w a Kettle and Q200, but a 12v pellet grill for camping.. can you say smoked trout? oh yea! That sealed the deal!

Do you reckon you could do a small brisket in it?

Probably a small flat cut.

How long is the rack? Would a rack of spare ribs fir on it?
@cookoutside6443 жыл бұрын
Hey medford2, thanks for watching! The top rack is 14" X 10.25". I haven't tried to cook a rack on top yet but it would be real tight for spare ribs.

The WIFI app sucks. I don't like that it takes over my phone.
