GM Hikaru, thank you again for a great recap! Stockfish says Ding played at 91.7% Accuracy, Gukesh played at 91.5% Accuracy, there were not Billiant moves, and one 1 Missed move, I am assuming the one Hikaru talked about here. That is a super accuracy level, and as Hikaru said Ding is just playing amazing when in tremendous time trouble. They both are played great. If Ding gets a win tomorrow, Richard should get Ding a strawberry ice cream cone on his day off. Just saying, Ding's English is so much better than 2 years ago, and Gukesh, (as most younger players), his English is super.

Personally I much prefer Ding's play style and attitude, but it would be great too if Gukesh was to win. Objectively speaking, maybe Gukesh deserves his seat across the board more than Ding does, but Ding holding the title isn't something to mock either. They're playing good chess and that's all that matter, even these draws are interesting.
@monkatheatre19015 сағат бұрын
@Hadesian yup that's true....here's a thing which is total speculation....no proofs....Everyone thinks Ding is a peaceful innocent man...Attitude is something that we ourselves create ourselves(which may or may not be real)....The way he checks on Gukesh reactions during the game....then he goes to the rest area and gets his snacks while watching gukes on screen....He is more of a hunter...he is not a prey...An innocent man with that kind of attitude which he shows can't be a world champion bro!!

Each draw would cancel another one. To break that tie, there would need to be someone winning more games than the opponent anyway or to have more wins with white than with black. I think if these draws continue, I think it’s going to hurt the viewership of the game. I really enjoyed last year’s game because it was dynamic and lots of changes of who was winning. Here, it’s been a win for either side and rest of the games are draws. I basically skipped to the end of the video just to see the results and went on with my day. In summary, if the draws continue I guess that it might kill the viewership of the game.

No comment on Ding’s centralising Kf1 move. If instead Kh1, then he could have increased the diagonal pressure on Nc5 / Qb6 faster by playing Qd1-g1 to back up his bishop. In the game, he had to play Qd1-e1-f2 to do this. Against that, White would lose the possibility of exchanging the Bg2 or playing Bh3. Thoughts?

A second chaotic game in a row. Young chess fans probably don't understand how unusual these games are, for most of modern chess post WWII World Championship matches have uniformly been to minimize risk and pounce when an opportunity appears . All this risk taking and unpredictable play is more typical of common non Championship play, not playing for a world title. I wonder if Ding will play his normal style to play d4 and outmaneuver his opponent rather than playing provocative ideas like the rook lift Hikaru attributes to computer creativity. Playing normal d4 openings isn't a guaranteed draw and Ding has played an entire career playing almost nothing but d4. You'd think he would feel that's his advantage to have probably played probably more than 10x the d4 openings as young Guresh.
