Thanks for all the support for Hikaru playing in this event. He really wasn't sure how he'd do with almost no experience on lichess servers. We all laughed at him thinking he understood berzerking only to watch him figure it out after the last server crash. We think this event will finish after the New Year - we hope it will since most of the participants are traveling to the World Rapid and Blitz tournament in Poland. Tune in to twitch.tv/gmhikaru on the 26-30th for coverage of the event live! Thanks and Happy Holidays to you all -- Team Hikaru

I really hope they take advice like this to heart because I think you are 100% correct. As Hikaru became more popular and engrained into Twitch culture it's almost like he's playing a character for chat (a loud, vocal minority of the viewers) when I think the majority of his audience really care more about his insights into the game and whats going through his head. I've just started watching Aman (of Chessbrah) content and I really enjoy his style. He's almost always just vibing and playing. Explaining his thoughts and tactics a bit as he goes. He might not be as good as Hikaru but the more focused content and less fake laughing at comments in chat make it much more enjoyable to me. Thanks for listening to my TED Talk everyone.
@RMichaelHimself2 жыл бұрын
I totally agreed 100% with your comment until you shat on his speedruns. His speedruns ARE part of the “tryhard” Hikaru we love. I especially loved the original blitz speedrun and bongcloud speedrun, because he was playing against good competition while using a bad opening... and it was fascinating to watch. Being said, this lichess arena is gold. Don’t expect many more gems like this (an arena of the best players on earth competing in a fast-moving, highly entertaining speed chess format, for a high $$ prize).
