Yes is so powerful the first time I heard it I got so scared, I was passing through my dark night of the spirit and someone sent it to me, probably God wanted me to hear it to help me heal it took me time to digest it. Is the ancient of days piece the one in the Bible. Sanat Kumara. Blessings

This part starts in 5:15 Finland, behold, thy daylight now is dawning, the threat of night has now been driven away. The skylark calls across the light of morning, the blue of heaven lets it have its way, and now the day the powers of night is scorning: thy daylight dawns, O Finland of ours!

How can a man think this music in his head, then write it down on paper, then musicians play it in totality, all the differing instruments coming together ? ...pure genius

Great version, but at the end, 07:25, the theme that the woodwind choral started at the beginning, isn't clear. I mean that the accompaniement is louder that this theme.
@saifulrimkeit2968 жыл бұрын
+Íñigo Aramburu Arnaiz That's true. There is that.

But it makes the final theme less epic. The last cry of the finish mother when the young boy arrives from the war.

Wow, hearing the hymn "Be Still, My Soul" out of context, I always felt like it was a fairly dramatic, almost mournful, hymn. But now listening to Finlandia in its entirety, I realize that that's actually one of the more peaceful and joyful sections of the piece. Amazing what context can do.

To understand Finlandia like a Finn does you also have to understand the words and the times. Here some good performances in English and one I like the most. Personally I get upset if it's played too slow and too hymn like. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHaTg5WGqKhsq6c and kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGbdmJKXm56VbsU

Am I the only one who finds the timpanist hilarious? >:]
@cecilyfoster82688 жыл бұрын
+Emmanuel Gapud Why? Are you not familiar with this instrument. I think him very contained and correct. i am a timpanist so maybe i am hilarious
@prestokrevlar8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you're right. But his face, I just love his expression as he carries out his work. Chances are he isn't superfrowning on purpose.
@davekingpt8 жыл бұрын
+Emmanuel Gapud Just looks like concentration to me. I find the male flutist and the bass players, who are dancing out of their shoes, to be the amusing ones. But the members of this orchestra look young. Are they high school age? College? Let youth be exuberant, they'll be beaten down by life soon enough. ;)
@prestokrevlar8 жыл бұрын
I'm in an orchestra. And I agree, they all look funny. As a violinist, I have no right to judge. But this is KZbin so one can get carried away. Sorry.
