ภัทร หนุ่มทะเล้น กากเกรียน และ ปราณ หนุ่มเนี้ยบ มาดคุณชาย ผู้ที่ถูกฟ้าลิขิตให้เป็นศัตรูกันตั้งแต่ยังไม่เห็นหน้า เพราะพ่อแม่เปิดร้านอุปกรณ์ก่อสร้างอยู่ข้างกัน แข่งกันตัดราคา แย่งลูกน้อง เกลียดกันชนิดไม่เผาผี ทำให้ทั้งคู่ถูกวางตัวเป็นคู่แข่งกันตั้งแต่เกิด ไม่ว่าใครคลานได้ก่อน เดินได้ก่อน เรียกพ่อแม่ได้ก่อน ทุกอย่างล้วนถูกเอามาเปรียบเทียบเกทับกัน
แต่วันหนึ่งตอนที่ทั้งคู่อายุ 12 ปี กำแพงความเกลียดชังของทั้งคู่ก็เริ่มมีรอยร้าว เมื่อ ภา น้องสาวของภัทรขี่จักรยานพลัดตกน้ำในคลองหมู่บ้าน ระหว่างที่ภัทรยังทำอะไรไม่ถูก เป็นปราณที่กระโจนลงน้ำไปช่วยภาขึ้นมา เหตุการณ์นั้นก็ทำให้ความสัมพันธ์ของคนทั้งคู่เปลี่ยนไป แม้ภายนอกจะดูเป็นคู่แข่งกันเหมือนเดิม แต่ลึกๆ ข้างในก็ไม่เกลียดชังกันเท่าเดิม
จน ม.3 อาจารย์ให้ทั้งคู่ฟอร์มวงดนตรีด้วยกัน ทำให้ทั้งคู่ต้องใกล้ชิดกันมากขึ้น
4 ปีต่อมา โชคชะตาก็เล่นตลกเมื่อส่งให้ ภัทร เข้าเรียนปี1 เป็นประธานรุ่นฝั่งวิศวะ ขณะที่ ปราณ เป็นประธานรุ่นคณะสถาปัตย์ โดยที่ทั้ง 2 คณะเป็นคู่แค้นกันมานาน ทำให้ภัทรและปราณต้องกลับมาตีกันอีกครั้ง เมื่อภารู้เรื่อง ก็วีนแตก ยื่นคำขาดห้ามภัทรทำร้ายปราณเด็ดขาด เพราะบุญคุณที่เคยช่วยไว้ ทำให้ภัทรไปขอทำข้อตกลงกับปราณว่าจะแอบแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูล เพื่อหาทางหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ให้ทั้ง 2 คณะทะเลาะกัน ปราณเองก็ไม่ชอบมีเรื่องเลยยอมตกลง
ทำให้ทั้งคู่เริ่ม “ความสัมพันธ์แบบลับๆ” ที่จะเป็นเพื่อนก็ไม่ใช่ ศัตรูก็ไม่เชิง แต่บันเทิงใจคนดู
สุดท้ายแล้วมิตรภาพบนความขัดแย้งของภัทรและปราณจะไปสิ้นสุดที่ตรงไหน ความลับจะแตกลงเมื่อไหร่ พ่อแม่จะยอมรับหรือไม่ หรือสุดท้ายจะมีวันที่ความขัดแย้งคลี่คลายหรือไม่

I've noticed that Pat being bad at flirting is an established thing in the series. Pran and Pa mention it, and in this episode, we see Pran getting to him with the flirting way more than he does to Pran. It's so cute considering Pat is the confident one and he's always so sure of himself, it's natural to think that he'd be better at flirting yet he's not, it's so endearing and innocent of him. On the other hand, Pran is introverted but so natural with flirting when it comes to Pat, the role reversal thing is always a pleasant surprise.

You know, those toxic stuff that happens in any kind of stories and it gets glossed over as if it's normal? The toxic thing you're talking about, I get your point. It is very toxic. But, it is the WHOLE point of the story lmao, without the drama between the parents, there is no BAD BUDDY THE SERIES. The engineering and architecture drama also comes from the theme of the story. In every story there is a problem that the main character(s) need to solve, and this is the problem. So it can't be unnecessary, it is VERY necessary. So when I said ''drama about the fluff'' that's what I meant.

@@sweetheart--- it is hard to compare a movie or series that depends on storylines, themes, plot twists, foreshadowing, artistic needs, etc. to real life. A movie isn't a straight depiction of reality. So yeah, in real life, I would hate to live that too, it isn't something necessary. For the hating, it is totally normal that you hate the friends and the parents, they follow the same thematic of being 'at war' against each other. Not helping the love story. So both of them represent the antagonist of the story. They are the 'bad guys' of the plot. I would've find it weirder if you did like them xD For the fluff, of course in any romantic story, the couple needs to fight against hurdles before being about to enjoy their fluff. So this is what I meant by 'drama about the fluff'. It's the drama that needs to happen in the story before we get the fluff, or cute romantic moments. For me 'drama NOT about the fluff' is the drama that isn't necessary to the story and feels really tiring to watch, like it's dragging the story for no reason. I just noticed that I've been talking too much, I'm sorry it doesn't interest you. I was just trying to answer your questions. All what I say is in my point of you and I'm explaining why I think like that. But it doesn't mean that you should think like that too, I don't mind if our opinions differ

The fact that 1) they don't bully each other to be noticed by the one they like 2) the person having a secret crush isn't a weak, unnoticed person. Not one of them having an upper hand over another. Both are equals in every possible way. 3) they don't actually hate each other and have been quite cordial like actual human beings, don't unnecessarily create drama to make the other person's life hell 4) communicate so well. Also maintain how they have always been, not changing their inherent personalities suddenly after falling in love, and helping each other grow. These things that are so essential and are normal things, but we hardly get to see in most series. These things, that make this series a super hit.

Poor Pran. You could feel he was so relieved when his mom said she'd be fine if he dated a guy. He was basically glowing. And it all got shattered when she said "except the kids next door." GOD i feel so, so, so bad for him. I know the feeling and it's completely devastating. When you think your parents will be fine with who you are and who you love but then set conditions and boundaries that contradict with precisely what you're doing.
