The best of these GM maps take the ‘Frog in a Pot’ method in telling a good horror story: the subtle changes from civilian to surreal is as undetectable to us, as a frog in a steadily heating pot, until it’s too late.
@0_dearghealach_0836 ай бұрын
I don't wanna be That Guy, but the frog in the pot situation is apocryphal. The frog will indeed jump out of the pot once it gets too hot. Alas, the frog that remained in the pot, which made the metaphor, had part of its brain removed, so it didn't notice the temperature rising. It was part of a science experiment by Friedrich Goltz in 1869. But, it is a good idea- the feeling of being in the GM map, not realising something's subtly off, until you're too deep into it. Like blindly walking through a dark room, arms out, and walking straight into something that's definitely not supposed to be there.

Referring to American suburbia as “just like frogger” Is messes up from how true it is
@Aeduo6 ай бұрын
The thing I found weird about this map was no street parking, few houses having garages, but a central parking lot for the neighborhood. It's like someone unfamiliar with American suburbia tried to make American suburbia based on their existing expectations. Also there's some stuff under the map.
@tonypeppermint53296 ай бұрын
Huh, interesting point.
@MyGeniusFriend6 ай бұрын
I also noticed the lack of garages and thought of something similar. Maybe this is a dreamscape of a non-American child or something?
@gordonfreeman8109Ай бұрын
The houses also don't look American either, they seem more North/Central European than anything, as opposed to the neocolonial and split-level ranch architecture that typically dominates American suburbia, plus American houses usually have more space between them. I could be wrong though.

17:40 I slept in an AirBnB house that was built in the early 1900s and it showed. Not a single light anywhere aside from a corner lamp, total gulf of darkness whenever I went to bed. Despite it having a full-length mirror and a rocking chair in the corners of the room, which I expected to give me untold nightmares, it was unironically the most comfortable and restful sleep I've ever had and I wish I could go back to it. It was probably the king sized bed that helped with the sleep, but even still the darkness felt somehow comforting to be in
@DinnerForkTongue4 ай бұрын
Architects of back then really were on to something. Luckily for us any portable compact LED flashlight also works as a bedside lamp if needed, so that darkness doesn't become inconvenient or dangerous.

I remember how mind-blowing it was as a kid visiting a new friend's house down the street, and realizing their house was just a slightly different variant of mine. With the same floor plan and everything, but different in a lot of other ways like walls and flooring and decorations. As a kid, it was a surreal experience for me. Even now that I know it's a common thing, it's still really interesting to me when I see it. I guess it's only even more common these days with newer houses, where you will see the same 3 houses copy-pasted 8 times on one street.

Empty maps like this always make me think of the premise of Ara and the Empty Universe. Everyone is gone, you don't know why, and you're now searching for any signs of life. All the while you're making judgements on the living conditions people were in, especially if it happens to be especially abnormal.

YES someone else understands that feeling of liking to look at/into people's houses on walks!! I never know how to describe that to others but i LOVE doing that. it's like... I wish I could just go inside people's houses and see what their home is like. How it's decorated, whats going on and the architecture like you said. I try so hard not to stare on walks because I know it looks creepy but I just love... houses?? Idk??? Also the fact that you think silent jumpscares are superior and mentioned how a fantastic type of horror is when it looks like something is there, and then you said Hereditary as an example. I will preach about silent jumpscares until the day I DIE they're so underutilized. Thank you for having correct opinions

On old vs new streetlights: The older streetlights were behind the metal barriers around the parking lot. That style of fencing around it seems... Like an odd choice. Kinda flimsy. The placement implies that the older streetlights were installed with the parking lot instead of just being part of the sidewalk, which I would assume to be older.

Your generation should demand those things back. Gen X worked to get 247 stores and the like because WalMart and it’s like gave that to us in return for cancelling the mom and pop stores. Now that they’re gone, you can tell that that structure was costly for the stores because no one is in a hurry to go back but they should. Cuz that savings is going back into their pocket not yours or mine. Pandemic was more about resetting things for companies and starting the delivery system than your or my health…

They are both creepy and kind of comfy at times with Majora’s Mask being more creepy but Ocarina of time is still really good and is much easier. After you played Mario B3313 I figured you might be playing less traditionally scary games so I think that this game would be perfect. (P.S.)
