In all my years I have never seen anyone as good as John Campbell. I wrote his wikipedia stub only because more people need to know about him. I'm delighted and so very grateful for this KZbin posting. A genuinely unique talent who is missed beyond compare. Love from London

The storys he had about all the great blues masters he told and then he would just sit there and blow your mind. I managed the only guitar story in 40 miles at 14 years or age. It was own by my old pee wee baseball couch. HWe always had a fea Riff Raff hanging round. we would sit around and play. When slim would come in (very rare) we would talk him in to playing a strat or some electric......WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel so sorry for the second guitarist here. He is good, no question about that. But Campbell... playing in his band simply must have been hard. Campbell is simply devastating. Whatever the second gutarist plays, there is always Campbell. He is simply better than anyone else.

I love his Leadbelly story. Fannin Street is very famous in Shreveport. Leadbelly wrote a song about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/borVdZmampVrb7s the monologue that goes with it is a must hear.

We shared a bathroom and he fussed with his hair more than I did! He was a gamer. We had an intellivision. Anyone remember that? I would get into trouble because of him! Always playing boxing (which i usually won). Fun times. I sure wish he was here.

I wonder where it is now. I'm hoping that it found a good home. I know that there are several wealthy collectors out there who just display them in their private collections, but a good, old guitar like that really needs to be played by someone who could appreciate it's provenance.

"the drum beat and bass guitar are lame." - lame thinking. They're playing really good. Listen to the fills - its not combined but it feels great to the music.
