Picked Asgarnia and had a great time with it last year. But I ultimately decided on Tirannwn this time as a melee build. DPS is slightly higher than Torva and it provides amazing setup for range as a secondary style (bowfa and BP). Mory is an auto pick, and Varlamore is my goal since I wanna vs Sol. I think in terms of power level, range will be the strongest, but I think I personally will have a lot more fun and skill expression with Melee. I am honestly soo excited for this leagues to start

Honestly, especially with the addition of Varlamore, I think that Tirannwn and Kandarin should just be merged into one region - and even then it would be hard to choose it over other offerings this league.

Tir is good gear for all 3 styles and makes smithing/crafting/thieving free 50 mils with dodgy deals. Kandarin on the other hand is pretty sad with echo Frem jewelry totally outclassing occult plus it's nerf and lame echo boss drop.

I disagree with this if anything it gives the devs reasons to buff both areas in the main game like sure kandarin deserves a league but it can get buffs after leagues in the future like a boss who isn't tied to slayer Tirawin could get better better wc *although this part is semi ok* it could get bosses behind the city and it could also get more areas with sailing , tirawin is already good for thieving smithing crafting slayer *although it could use its own slayer master* it has crystal armor which is gold at 2 styles and the trident of the swamp and serptine helmet aa well as the blowpipe , bowfa , crystal shield , crystal helberd and blade of saledor , the area is not terrible for fishing exp

@@adambryant6854 The problem with Kandarin... is a lot of things, and in lieu of my essay about what it's missing and what it could have, what it does have right now is not a whole hell of a lot. Almost all that it offers is outclassed or outpaced by other areas. Tirannwn's problem is that 99.9% of it's content is in the city and a huge part of why anyone picks it is for what the Gauntlet offers. Zolcano has some good stuff, Zulrah and Kraken have good stuff... The entirety of these two regions is propped up by the few good drops from it's few bosses. The rest of the regions besides those bosses? Pretty desolate and barren. They're just not worth a region slot.

Quick note on the chaining echoes - the 1 in 80k for 8 chained echoes assumes you get the first echo (5^7 ~ 80k). The chance on any given hit splat is 1 in 390k (5^8). At least I understood it as a cap of 8 echo hits being 9 total hits (the first hit splat then the 8 echo hits) as opposed to 8 total hits (the initial hit splat and 7 echoes), but maybe I missed confirmation that it worked differently

Strongly recommend people think twice about the spec relic or at least spec relic+total recall. Its fun for about 2hrs but it gets extremely old very quick spamming specs and spamming TR. Its probably necessary if you want to farm A efficiently but hardly necessary elsewhere. The spec relic without TR is a nicer balance so you still get to spec a lot, just not every single attack or feel like you're wasting DPS.

Personally going Zeah, Mory, Wilderness. The Kopesh seems awesome, and I want to practice raids. Last leagues I did ToA a few times but got burnt out as the mage strategy of max range blasting was fun at first but got boring quick. This years melee seems really good with lots of variety. Mory for armor/raids/barrows, Wildy for Kopesh and wildly slayer maybe. I will always stand by Zeah as a great all around support pick, as there are lots of good ways to train skills early on as well as the massive amounts of monsters in the Catacombs for slayer. Plus with the slayer relic, I feel like you can print out Konar keys.

If you plan on Dharok bombing, I feel like that's where Last Stand has the most utility. It keeping you at 1 hp for 16 ticks means you get 5 attacks at max capability, where you can ignore any chip damage. If you clear the Colo before unlocking last relic tier, it could be worth checking the echo Sol for chip damage, and if so Last Stand might be the more fun option. That said, it and Specialist are very competitive for fun this league, and Specialist also lets you Zaryte Crossbow 5 times for pseudo-t6 range on melee builds. I'll be grabbing Last Stand to make Corrupted Gauntlet grind a bit easier & faster myself, as I plan on using a Bowfa for fun over BP for more damage until I get a TBow. When DPS is over 30, how much does the difference really matter?

your point about the fishing relic synergizing with the foraging relic sold me on picking the fish relic. i can't think of any other way to maximize the foraging relic, knowing that i'll be catching karambwans every 2 ticks. my path is slightly different since i'm still sticking with tiranwann, and i'm choosing last stand no matter what because i'll be learning tob (by doing solo) + colosseum, but this vid was quite insightful nonetheless. ty for sharing

Dodgy Deals just benefits the most Skills out of the 3, so I'd say that's stronger. But then again I'm doing the opposite of Gnomonkey and taking Reloaded with Friendly Forager which is basically pretty similar

Natures reprisal is pretty decent actually. I kinda hate Zeah, but the sally is literally the only decent early/mid upgrade on the whole continent for any style. Its very comparable to Fang/BoFa/Trident.

I went morytania every league since the original trailblazer for melee builds and every time I was just out of reach of the dragon trophy because I wasn't able to do Tob, this time despite how good morytania will be I plan to go VAD for a specialist melee build with some range hybriding with the drygor blowpipe I think this will be the most fun league yet!

D is easily the best region to make your second style serviceable. Range is the strongest style and its also definitely the strongest off style. 3/4 points into range makes the Drygore nearly as good as t6 toxic blowpipe.

In terms of gear, Drygore loses to blowpipe and masori loses to void (which he's already getting). So when you say easily best, you mean second best, twice. And you have to suffer through tempoross, GOTR, MTA, PP, Squirking and the worst of the 3 raids. Yikes.

I plan on going same build but tirannwn over asgarnia. The dps of the crystal armour is crazy and it even has a splash of prayer bonus for the sol spear (+8 over torva if you include the blessing). With 3 points into ranged I'll have a 1T blowpipe and 3T bowfa for zuk and other situations I might need ranged. Speccing with the dogsword does seem incredibly fun, but I'll probably take last stand for ezscape and dharok purposes.

I'm picking the same 3 regions as you. Crystal armor is definitely the stronger choice but I can totally understand choosing the fun in the new spec weapon. 3t bowfa for zuk though may unironically be more challenging than just using a 4t rune cbow. dps calc shows rune cbow with rubies is a lot slower, but i imagine it's going to be very easy to lose a ton of ticks with a 3t weapon. There's that entire buffer area before reaching the edges where attacking on certain tiles will just drag you toward zuk

Tirawinn for crystal, Asgarnia for zaryte crossbow, and Desert for Masori at TOA. You can get T bow from any raid. Blood fury for amulet would be the only RIP there.

I feel torn too. I really like phase 3 hunlef and hate cerb and vex, so being able to get echo hunlef and crystal armor instead of dog and bat girl would be great, but I do want to bonk with spec all the time. Only issue with the spec though is that you dont get the spec ring unless you go desert... seems like spec is best for ranged tbh with zcb + lightbearer and going something like desert+asgarnia+fremenik for the insane jewelry. Ugh, if only you had time to do multiple runs :(

Power miner solves money throughout the league and makes smithing a joke (one of the slowest skills) while the harpoon only buffs very fast or very afk skills. Chins are only decent with W or K and you rarely fail traps anyway. Dodgy deals gives more agility exp than sepulchre with mermaid chests lol. There are tons of chests that give crazy supplies. Infinite herbs is definitely nice but I might have to go reloaded to get both. Equil is massively buffed because it works with combat now, and should work with overgrown. You don't need TR for barrows, there's a clue step to speak to the old man at barrows. Piety/Rigour/aug only change TTK by 1-2s. Its definitely not a massive DPS increase due to the high accuracy in leagues. The real power comes from having high alch, reanimate, thralls, freezes, npc contact, veng, utility, etc all the time and never having to switch books. Spec relic is pretty cancer with TR. You get really tired of spamming spec and recall, but its probably necessary for farming GWD efficiently.

I believe it is because void gives higher max hit and with t6 ranged you don't have to worry about the lack of accuracy that usually balances it out.

I’m a little worried about taking varlamore because of the grandmaster SOL difficulty. I’m a decent pvmer, but I’m not a god. It took me 70 try’s for my first quiver and like 15 inferno attempts. I don’t want to lock myself out of the 10th relic because of that pick. What should I do?

Tir would give toxic trident, blowpipe, bowfa and melee buff. Don't forget that melee hand will take 1/3 damage from mage and tekton and vasa crystals must be meleed.
