GNU has no anti-poverty strategy - Vavi

SAFTU General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says that all signs in the first 100 days of the Government of National Unity indicate that the coming together of the ANC and DA was a 'doomsday' for the marginalised South Africans. Vavi says the GNU has not announced any anti-poverty strategy.

No such thing as "anti-poverty strategy" you either have economic growth and increase the tax base which in turn could eradicate poverty or you don't. Without economic growth your hands are tied 🤞

I agree with Economic growth but the rest is just neo liberal capitalism or democracy! Pre 94 the tax rate was not even close to what it is today and that government never struggled to generate electricity, clean water, free healthcare for all, a huge military budget and police force and education itself was also free, universities were very affordable and petrol was produced here and extremely cheap! This idea where taxes somehow fixes everything is very wrong! Money in the hands of citizens grows an economy as causes citizens to spend! This spending creates jobs, builds houses and creates new public infrastructure. What does government need money for besides Military,Police,Education,Healthcare,water and electricity? We sold our water and electricity to Africa as we produced enough to subsidise it… we sold our military equipment to virtually fund our own airlines, same as petroleum… our agricultural is what made us wealthy and used mineral wealth income to build public infrastructure for everyone including fund healthcare… Federalism and low taxes is what works, it built Germany and the US, it built South Africa, Australia and even Britain… These are all top nations so it’s a proven and tested model. Democracy and communism failed all these nations not federalism.

The economy can in fact grow while unemployment increases. Americans outsourced jobs to China and had an economic boom without the requisite decrease in unemployment. This is how insane neoliberalism is, it strangles its own damn self.

What portfolio gives responsibility to looking after the poor? All the black paeties insisted that what ever poor there were they would get work through BEEE from the inception. This made business go bankrupt because the beee rule there were not educated couldn’t deal with the work and didn’t want to work. But the poor femme the rural lands came flocking for these jobs but didn’t know how to do it and from there they go build shacks and live on their wits. S all very good talking about the poor -all I’ve seen so far are benefits so I wish you luck making them rich.
