It’s so nice reading all these comments from Italians here and Ukrainians under Måneskin video, because Italy gave Ukraine 12 points from the televote and Ukraine gave Italy 12 both from the jury and the televote, the only country to give Italy 24 points! And it makes me so happy that two really strong performance this year in their own languages are recognized by each other’s countries! Love that spirit of Eurovision! And congrats again to Italy! they made this song first and shot the music video with a phone because of the pandemic and wanted to make a funny video with the dance and costumes. then they changed the whole song because of ESC rules and turned it into an even more badass version and still used these costumes as a tribute in the official music video, they are so wholesome, clever, talented, amazing. This is very interesting, thanks! I was literally wondering why they didn't use this version during the contest, do you know the reason? Did they have to remake the video because of quality, or was it the song itself? I'm so glad ESC made me discover this band, (their entry in 2020 was so good but Shum is definitely a favorite) the more I learn about them the more I love them!

Why this song and Eurovision song are different: "In March, a new version of the song was released with a new music video. Pavlenko noted, that the band struggled to cut the original version of the song to three minutes. So, rather than shortening it, they decided to come up with a "sequel". Pavlenko explained that the original Shum was not written with Eurovision in mind and was intended for their concert tour after the cancelled Eurovision 2020. The purpose of the original track was to recreate the folk ritual at live gigs with their audience. The new version of the track, however, was "adapted" for Eurovision and is based on vesnianka folk songs. In Pavelnko's words, it was intended to have "more positive energy", since the original version of Shum, which is based on the folk ritual, is "a bit tense"." (source: wikipedia). What is happening in Ukraine right now is just unacceptable. UE should have sanctioned Russia right after the invasion of Crimea to prevent them from going further. I’ll probably say something stupid or exaggerated but I truly believe that Eurovision has had a very important role (at least for eurofans) in getting to know better the Ukrainian culture. Ukraine has brought quality almost every time in the last few years, but Jamala and especially Go_A really raised the bar. As much as I loved seeing my country win in 2021, I think that Shum should have won or at least second place. I hope Kateryna, Taras, Ihor and Ivan are safe as well as every single Ukrainian.
