those among you who follow sports may have heard of bob beamon, the 1968 olympic gold medalist in the long jump. in 1968, the world record for the long jump was 27 ft 6.5 inches and had only moved by a matter of a few inches over the past century. impossibly, bob beamon jumped 29 feet, absolutely obliterating a record that had barely moved over several generations. that’s the level of statistical dominance that chris is on right now- it’s not just that he’s the best, it’s that the gulf between him and everyone else is so wide as to be incomprehensible.

Dude the beamon wr jump is pretty fucking insane. That jump is such an outlier among outliers -- its like if some guy came out with an MFC on egoism out of nowhere. Or like if someone PFCed a hypothetical SP 22/23. I think chris distinguishes his play from the field through his sheer unmatched consistency and ability/willpower to grind out hard scores rather than it being pure athletic edge. In that sense i feel like he's more like a 00s tiger woods where he's consistently dominating because he's willing to take the study/practice of the game to a whole new level in addition to having an absurd amount of innate talent

@@wwpl8371 another good comp might be wayne gretzky, who similarly did things that no one else has ever done over and over again simply because no one understood the game like he did. the beamon comparison is less about athleticism and body mechanics and more about the sheer size of the gap between him and the field edit: it’s also worth pointing out that chris is clearly very athletic and has remarkable stamina and footspeed, which contribute greatly to his success- the things he can accurately doublestep are honestly scary

Chris right now is Bob Beamon. He's Wayne Gretzky. He's Don Bradmon. We are watching what happens when a once in a decade athlete gets hold of DDR. His PFC of paranoia revolution and the PFC of max 360 on the same day is his 29 foot jump, and buddy, he's not even stopping. I straight up can't watch the paranoia revolution video without crying, just like I can't watching the 29 foot moment on the summoning salt video without crying.

Hurr durr nice bracketing Real talk though, Chris is a goddamn prodigy. I've been around in countless communities and fandoms, many people within them considered prodigies. ZAB from TGM having god-tier speed and times, Shigetora/Cookiezi nailing literally any and every osu! map ever made. And yet compared to all of them, Chris has earned the throne over top of every single one of them, taking every aspect of pure athleticism, talent, and musical prowess all into one tight package, and it shows very clearly with how effortless he makes these kinds of records look

I would like to see this guy's blood work, probably one of the healthiest people in the world, no way an unhealthy guy can move like him, probably has a heart of a cheetah at this point. Always a good time to see him play.
