Joel, this is simply my thought, but innocense is of the mind and of the heart, not of the body, i have read these girls all experianced the Rock and Roll band lifestyle. I have seen some of her later years performances, her free style of dance and heart felt smile seems to still show her love of living in the moment and enjoying her sharing her GOD given gift of music with their fans was still a huge part of her joy.

The Cuckoo’s Nest, Costa Mesa, CA, Fall 1979. I’d just started my junior year at Newport Harbor High School and went that night with my friend Paul, a college sophomore, to see Black Flag at this tiny, dingy club on the bad side of of town. The opening band was five girls on stage singing their own original songs. We suspected they didn’t know how to play their own instruments very well since the chords were so basic. But these chicks were so talented (yet so flawed, but nobody cared) that they were all anyone there was talking about. They had some copies of their first single (“We Got The Beat” over “How Much More” - and way better orchestrations that the later album versions). I think I bought their last two copies and had to borrow money to get both. They were brash, edgy, unprepared to slay and yet way too adorable 𝘯𝘰𝘵 to slay. Forty-four years later and that night is still one of the most iconic nights from that crazy, untethered part of my life. I miss it.
