Heard them for the 1st time when I saw "But I'm a Cheerleader" & bought this album on iTunes the next day. That movie got me into Dressy Bessy as well. These bands should be huge!

Does this artist cater to feminists in style alone or is that just the vibe I'm getting from this..
@Katie-lb4sf9 жыл бұрын
Luke vanDillen Feminist style, not sure about that, sounds more like the style of girl who pines over an ex (male) lover which isn't a very good trait for a good feminist. I think Rose the lead singer is just a feminine girl with her own unique and awesome sound and shouldn't be confused with forcing militant-female sounds on the public IMHO. I would say that indie in general allows for women to express themselves without being any less feminine than they should be or want to be, unlike other genres that would expect their performers to be stuck in a box and behave accordingly.

+vielelDeen You are a turd!
@umokay19918 жыл бұрын
+vielelDeen Seems like most people associate feminist music with bands like The Gits or Bikini Kill that have/had a lot of music about liking to fuck but also were all about independence and stuff. I could see how people would see this band as being at least somewhat feminist. Honestly I don't care much about that stuff, just an awesome female-fronted band that deserves way more listeners than they get.
@bladechild24498 жыл бұрын
Feminism in 1996 was a lot more grounded in sensibility, unlike the unbearable feminists of today. Rose doesn't particularly seem like she cares all that much anyway. Most of her songs are just love songs with sunshiney metaphors
