Drew's takes are usually pretty solid. I enjoy watching his KZbin.

I think 15 meters is a better option for circle one because it still rewards the better putters but doesn’t totally kill the jump/step putt part of the game. It also feels like the top MPO players are making everything inside of 45 feet anyways. I think moving it to 20 meters hurts the amateur and non touring side of disc golf more than it helps it.

Sorry to all you jump and step putters. I like the rule change. The only other way I think this could be done would be to make it where you had to stay behind your lie.
@fredvocino19533 күн бұрын
If people were made to stay behind their lie in the process of jumping or stepping, they would soon realize that the common plant-foot advantage is quite adequate to their power requirements. Violations of the stance/contact requirements are mostly about hedging the distance. I frequently step to my lie outside of 10 meters, then merely fall forward. 10 meters was, and is, the fair distance for that fall.

My main concern with competing tours is the $ currently in disc golf. I hope they don't both go broke.

Change the jump/step putt rules for DGPT players. Older folks/Amateur players will struggle the most if the rule changes. Or use video replay, asap if a putt is in question. And yes, we'll all adapt, otherwise.

The change to the putting circle from 10 meters to 20 meters does unjustified harm to the players who do not step/jump and those who do without forcefully lunging and losing contact with the lie or touch surface ahead of the lie. The problem is not a matter of distance it is a matter of detection. So far, the detection issue has been treated as a cop-out for the abuser and a puzzle for those who are uncertain about the abuse. Relying on video evidence is premature. Change "too close to call" from and excuse to an obligation to moderate the lunging effort. Let the ordinary power of vision in real time work for the card and officials. Make "too close to call" a warning. 10 meters has not ceased to be the point where ordinary momentum justifies a simple fall over one's lie. Better catching baskets is irrelevant to the distance and throwing force equation.

@@discindeals It is a wonder why the "thinkers" available to Doug Bjerkaas did not offer some sore-thumb reasoning before he issued his letter on the subject. The bureaucratic inertia that likely exists in support of the 20 meter rule is going to be a challenge for the rest of us. It has already confronted me.

The failure to work hard at jump and step putts results in violations of the simple rule: throw your next shot from where your last shot ended. Video evidence shows that. The abusers take comfort in the rule against photos. Those are childlike examples of weak sporting principles.
