Thanks for this! When relics were placed in altar-stones, a piece of stone from this cave served as a relic for the angels. Without this shrine, there would never have been a church dedicated to St Michael or “All Angels”. The good archangel answered a problem for me when I was there. The place ought to be higher on people’s pilgrimage list.

My pleasure! I did not know that fact about the altar-stones. Absolutely agree. This shrine should be higher up. But I pray it does not get commercialized like some other more popular pilgrimage sites.

I don't think i'd survive the dogs and bulls. Too much city in me. But the scenery alone makes it well worth the few panic attacks. Well done and for sharing.🌹🌹

Indeed. I've loved him since I was 7 (not quite sure) when Sr Redempta, taught us about him.

I heard about the walk that Saint Padre Pio would recommend to people that were afflicted with bothersome voices that they take the walk from the rotunda all the way to the cave and then get some stones blessed by Saint Michael himself 🕊♥️🌹🙏🏼

Thank you for taking me there.... I love Saint Michael with all my heart. I don't know if I'd ever get there... but I'd sure love too. My first reaction to the First Bull... was... "Oh.... That's Saint Michael's bull." lol The one that had gotten lost, and the owner got mad when they found it near the cave. They shot an arrow (a poisoned arrow.. the jerks. 😒 ) lol and Saint Michael threw it back at them.. It struct the foot of the one that shot it... I have no idea why I find that hilarious... but I can almost hear Saint Michael at that point saying.. "Hey.. don't throw things at me." LOL.... sorry I really love him and could talk forever about him. Really... Thanks for this.. God Bless.

A city on a hill! What was your feeling in St. Michaels' Cave?
@michaelvincent6414 жыл бұрын
Inside St. Michael's Cave is amazing. It speaks to you of eternity in there. It's quite interesting because you are on top of a mountain, but down inside a cave. Inside the cave, you get the feeling that it truly is a Celestial Basilica. There is definitely a palpable blessing and angelic presence.

How do you know what path to follow?
@michaelvincent6412 жыл бұрын
I used my phone and followed a map on Wikiloc. I recorded my steps here: www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/the-way-to-monte-sant-angelo-28902983 The path is a combination of mostly secondary roads and some ancient trails. It is not very well marked, but if you follow your GPS-enabled smartphone and use some basic orienteering, you should find the way. Just be aware that there are no services or restaurants along the route. You will need to bring water and snacks. In the future, I hope to do another video explaining, step by step, how I walked this pilgrimage. In the meantime, I hope this helps. God bless and may Saint Michael protect you!

Sept. 2022 Please God thanks for the video. Is the trail well marked/signposted?
@michaelvincent6412 жыл бұрын
Wonderful! You won't forget it. It is not as well marked as the Caminos de Santiago in Spain, for example, but it is very manageable. There are some yellow trail markers painted on posts and some rocks. I did check the GPS on my phone quite a bit to make sure I was going the right direction. Here is a link to the Wikiloc recording I made at the time: www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/the-way-to-monte-sant-angelo-28902983. The GPS went a little crazy, so there are some inaccuracies such as the 700 foot spike in elevation within a quarter mile in the middle, but it does give a good idea. I hope that helps. God bless and may Our Lady and St. Michael be your guides!

@@michaelvincent641 Thanks a million Michael. I've just picked up the gpx coordinates for each 20m or so. 🙂 That vid. footage is really cool. Tks again. Tip : if you havent done so already, go do the Cinque Terre. Take in Levanto and Porto Venere.

@@michaelvincent641 Done and dusted. Thanks again Michael. it was a beautiful day and an incredible buzz to enter the shrine at the end of the hike. We attended 3 Masses there over the few days we stayed on the mountain😇. Happy Patron Saint feast day btw. St. Michael thank you. New red and white markings were applied most of the way. They must have run out of paint on the last 5k.😀 See below Relive clip. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYfOY42GlMmZqtU
