Thanks for this. Acknowledge one's own unique heritage and celebrating its language, music, food, cosmopolitan values is acknowledging historical fact. Every part of India is so rich in its own traditions. These are not static and have and must continue to evolve. They must never be denied. Instead they must be documented in word, imagery and sound, celebrated and treasured. The unique cosmopolitan culture has allowed the vast international Goan diaspora to be at home both across India and now in every corner of the wider world. Goans have before and since 1947 have distinguished themselves in all fields and also been disproportionately represented in the senior officer cadres of both the Indian Civil Services and the Indian Armed Forces. A great tribute to their uniquely patriotic leadership.

Marathi people cried in 1980 when Marathi language was kicked of it’s official status and Konkani became the language of Goa. Viva Goa and the Goans for sending MGP and marathi to the mud..

V4Goa: While being a South Indian and a true Dravadian I do respect the tradition and culture of every community of India, and Goan tradition too. But when you say British and Moghuls were India's colonial masters, are you forgetting the fact that the Portuguese too were Goa's colonial masters?? I beg to differ, but I do not understand your point Sir.
@zertxer_zertxer8 жыл бұрын
They treated them very differently. They were treated as Portuguese citizens and included into the Portuguese culture, unlike the rest of British-ruled India. Many people actually had no problems with the Portuguese rule and even after Goa was liberated Goans chose to go and live in Portugal, which had provided them with Portuguese passports.
@KINGMJ19907 жыл бұрын
Right...that's why TB Cunha and Luis Menezes and Alfred Afonso fought against these colonizers?

KINGMJ1990 For every one of those so called fighters, there were many who had no problem with Portugal. Most of the issues were with the authoritarian policies of the then PM Salazar and a desire for greater autonomy within Portugal. All Goans were full fledged citizens of Portugal not subjects or slaves. We Goans had no issue with Portugal even though we are now patriotic Indians.
@KINGMJ19905 жыл бұрын
@@roobaba5415 Boss, we know about the Goan Inquisition. How many poor Goans were killed and converted by the sword. We know about the Inquisition, nobody has forgotten it. Goa was not some paradise. Only after 1900 when Salazar came to power he made Goa equal to Portugal.
