Can you plug it in and charge this unit?

And of course they eliminated one of the key features from the last Sherpas....ability to use Light-A-Life Lanterns. the Sherpas are the perfect hiking companion and then being able to connect a Light-A-Life lantern for use inside of your tent was crucial. Seems Goal Zero is abandoning the Light-A-Life lanterns....perhaps is there a new product coming out soon that uses a universal USB plug and not the proprietary 6mm?

Recently needed to turn off the auto-timeout for the AC inverter for the first time. I was trying to power a tiny Ubiquiti ER-X switch that only drew 2W via the AC port and it kept shutting off while I was trying to configure the router. Never needed it before but came in handy to be able to turn if off so I could get through the configuration process of the router.

Glad you were able to work it out, Robert! I've never had to use the auto-timeout, but it makes sense why you had to use it in your situation. Great feature!

can you charge the battery using a different solar panel at 60W using the usb c port?

On the screen which displays output for the 2 USB A ports, do some of the numbers fluctuate when nothing of connected? I have a unit where the voltage on one of the USB A ports just flutters between 5.0 and 5.1 volts when nothing is connected.

Do you notice the inverter making a distinct buzzing sound when connected to a laptop's AC to DC power brick? (and it becomes a much quieter buzzing sound that can be heard when the inverter is turned on but nothing is connected--probably will have to hold the unit to one's ear to hear it in this case)

That's called coil whine. It's normal, but it can be bothersome. The only cause for concern would be if there was any erratic behavior in the operation of the device.

Do you know if you can charge that unit while using the power at the same time, I want to know if I can plug in solar and still use the power that's in the battery

That's to activate the wireless Qi charging pad. It's located on the top of the sherpa on the Goal Zero logo

170watts = 100 Watts AC + 60 Watts USB C + 5 Watts USB A + 5 Watts USB A

*Unfortunately, the AC output is A) Too Low @ ONLY 100 Watts. (300 Watts would be more useful), and B) Only a Sine Wave ! NO GOOD !!! This AC Output can destroy sensitive electronics ! This AC output should be PURE SINE WAVE ONLY !!! It's an interesting power bank, but it just isn't designed properly and simply isn't good enough ! GOAL ZERO needs to improve its overall design here.*
