Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reveals that he came close to representing England under Fabio Capello before injury prevented him from being called up.

I think Arteta never played for Spain in senior team. He played for u21 and age groups. It was very hard to get into Spain national team especially in midfield when they have the greatest footballers already in the team and they all play for Barca and Madrid. Alonso, Xavi, iniesta. How would you replace them so his time was difficult to get chance in the national side.
