I think real madrid mistakenly thought he would be the star at madrid but at madrid he's just another player, he can't stand out among vinicius jr, rodrygo and others, or maybe they care about having the club sign big names in football and having big french superstars tied to the club's name for marketing reasons. Madrid care about having big names associated with the club like Zidane, Beckham, R9, ronaldo, mbappé and others, they sign them for marketing reasons and if they performed or not, that comes after. It's something that i love and hate about real madrid, caring too much about signing big names for makrting and advertising motives. They thought mbappé would be the guy for them when they had vini all those years who is better than kylian at the moment.
