If you're talking about 'big games' I assume you're talking about finals. of which Messi has performed better. 35 goals and 13 assists to Ronaldo. 22 goals and 2 assists. Internationally Ronaldo has never scored in finals despite 3 appearances. World Cup knockouts Ronaldo has never scored or assisted in 8 appearances. Messi has 5 goals and 6 assists in 12. Copa America/Euro knockouts, Messi is again better 5 goals, 12 assists in 16 games. Ronaldo has 3 goals and 2 assists in 11 games. The biggest stage he has never performed. If only Champions League final it is 2 goals in 3 games for messi and 3 goals in 6 games for Ronaldo. He has a better records in knockouts overall though 67 goals to messi 49 goals in 8 more games. So overall, Messi is better in Domestic, International, UCL finals. The only thing Ronaldo has is UCL goals in knockouts. But overall Champions League Messi has a better goal ratio, assist etc. + better in literally every other competition.

Why does he need to go to a different league when he was in the best one in the early 2010s and his teammates where changing all the time. Suarez is probably one of the greatest prem players of all time, yet when he joined barca, messi was still better. He proved it in La liga, Champions, Ligue 1, and International. Correction: Ronaldo didn't start in midfield. he started has a winger (that's an offensive position specially clear if the tactical scheme is a 433, number 7 typically on the wing). He then moved at 24/25 to number 9. Hence the avalanche of goals since that age.
