He's been nominated for an Oscar for music he's produced on Mudbound Nominated for an Emmy for his work on Lovecraft Country... He recently won a Grammy for Cuff It on the Renaissance album by Beyoncé and has been nominated for Grammy's since "Anniversary" He won a Grammy for D'Angelo "Be Here" Some of this I looked up because I didn't know ... Back in the day, I sang background vocals for my buddy when we opened for Goapele at the TLA in Philly. She was incredibly kind and gracious. I got a preview on podcasts 😂. I love that she mentioned ‘One Mo Gin’ by D’Angelo. That’s always been one of favorites from Voodoo. I definitely performed it in a couple rooms where no one had a clue what I was singing😅. Great episode!!

I love her music!! I remember meeting her in Michigan years ago. She was at a hotel and walked passed, I thought I was tripping. I asked the front desk person, if that was her, he looked at me like I was crazy!! I went up and told my family that I saw her, they thought I was lying!! So anyway, I went and sit outside for 2 hours and when I seen a black car pull up, I just knew it was for her!! She walked out and I think I scared the sh*t out of her, because I was screaming like omg omg its you!!! I asked if I could take a picture and she was really nice and said yes!!!! My family was looking so dumb when I showed them the picture lol!!

Omg this interview was one I was really waiting for! I kid you not, when I first heard closer. I was at my lowest in my life. New baby, baby father left us. Moved back home to Miami, and had to rebuild my new adult life. And that song (Closer) came on, and I literally started day dreaming at a light. And remapped out what I wanted my new adult life to be. I said a prayer, and made a promise to myself to make it happen. I promise you, I now live that same dream I manifested while listening to that song. (Heard it first in 2007) (Now 2023) So when this song comes on now for me, I take my time through it and pray and reminisce. I look over my life and smile of how proud I am of how far I am now, in comparison to then and am sooooooo overly grateful for that song. It really came at the right time. 😊 Thank you R&B Money for giving her, her flowers! She has really changed lives out here.
